Jim, you should watch some of the Miami Hurricanes game from last night. They ran unbalanced line and kept louisville D confused - could not be stopped.

Rhett Lashlee is OC. Rhett Lashlee was the OC for Gus Malzahn at Auburn, when they had QB Nick Marshall.

That one 75 yard run was worth watching. Put most of the wrs on the left, put one wr on the right. Put that one wr in motion from right to left, bringing a db with him, ran right, there was no one there, whoever was there was blocked, and the rb ran right, outside, 75 yards without being touched.

Similar to the Terrelle Pryor longest QB run - put most players on one side, then push even more players in that same direction, pull the OL that way, and then, misdirection, and you can get huge big empty green field to run.

This would work with Lamar. The more you have an unbalanced line, the more you (Lamar) can figure out, largely before the snap, whether he can just out run everyone in the misdirection.

Defenses wouldn't want to leave one side of the field completely wide open, but they also wouldn't want to give the offense a clear numbers advantage on the other side of the field where the offense is loading up their blockers.

Key points are that those unbalanced lines can lead to huge gains on the ground and that defenses are really not prepared for new things.

    Innovative new offense

Pats ran Cam on the single wing for a TD.

Link didn't work for me (went to the end of a Metcalf TD and celebration).

How about this from Kingsbury? https://twitter.com/Z_Tibbs/status/1307807238359330816

I think Miami is my team to watch this year. I've seen both Miami games this year. Georgia Tech doesn't do flexbone any more, and Navy doesn't seem to have a Malcolm Perry this year.

Did anyone catch the Ravens formation today with Lamar and running back standing as typical, but with Hollywood Brown added to the backfield in the tailback spot, about 5 yards behind the running back? Brown also had one carry where he went in motion and did a jet sweep type of thing. As I recall, neither of the plays was amazing, but it's definitely good that they're working in that 3rd run option.

The Cardinals play was an End Around (Kirk) and the Flexbone. That's Paul Johnson's classic Georgia Tech Flexbone, which Navy and others also use. The left slotback motioned into a tailback spot, sorta, and Murray got it to Kirk on the end around.

This OC from the Miami hurricanes is interesting. He’s proven on the college level. Going to watch the games this season maybe he makes the jump to the pros? Who knows?

To be effective the QB has to be able to pass.
