Stole this from Beatdown's film review by Logan Levey https://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/20...ar-jackson-nfl
It's interesting to see powers and traps not being as good given tis' the staple of Roman's unique scheme.
Outside zones worked quite effectively.
Overall, just not enough consistency it seems. too many 0-3 yard gains to really get it going."Cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness, that just means you’re okay with being mediocre, and ain’t no man in here okay with just basic.”

Re: Review of Sunday's Run Game
I may be wrong, but I sense that this is Castillo/Moeller Part II. Two coaches with different styles and Harbaugh trying to mesh it together. During the Castillo/Moeller situation, Marshal Yanda actually came out publicly about the confusion along the offensive line during games. With some of the line blocking man and some blocking zone. Rhythm has been the word I've thrown around this year and other posters have carried it on in fun. However, another issue is symmetry. When everyone on your coaching staff isn't even of one mind, your players aren't going to be of one mind. It's just more mixed signals. Coach Harbaugh brought in Greg Roman to force the issue with the rush offense. Marty Mornhinweg's issue has never been incapability of putting together a good run scheme. It's been that he doesn't prioritize it. Meanwhile, John Harbaugh prioritizes running the ball over throwing the ball. So, from the Head Coach to the Offensive Coordinator, you already have philosophical friction. Then, you push Roman onto Mornhinweg. The rush offense looked better than the pass offense last season, but that was saying much. That bar was extremely low. Now, they actually have a competent passing offense, a significant improvement, but the rush offense hasn't improved.
Personally, I also agree with the poster who said that the RBs are an issue as well. Alex Collins is not an inside trap runner. He's too indecisive for that. The zone stretch works better for him. The zone stretch doesn't work for Buck, because Buck lacks the burst.
I want to believe that the line change the entire board has hoped for will change things, but my gut tells me that this starts from the top. It starts with the Front Office and then goes to the coaching staff.

Re: Review of Sunday's Run Game
I thought Buck had some really good grinding type runs. There was a lot of contact and he was pushing through it. If it was me I would have stuck with Buck more towards the end of the game.

Added some formatting to improve readability. Added timestamps to make filmwatching easier. Added LoS and rusher information. Added direction and hole as specified by NFL play-by-play.
Might take a look at the film tonight to add # of defenders in box, but I'm not exactly jumping at the chance to rewatch the game. If someone else wants to do it, I can send you a spreadsheet/CSV version of the data to make recording easier.Shared Google Folder with Ravens spreadsheets, nextGen charts, and more! Review of Sunday's Run Game
Would you guys be interested in this info weekly?
I’ve considered and never invested the time
In a series of article called “Run Game Coordinator” they’re distinct from
filmstudys work by focusing on scheme and play calling and not individual performance.
It would track:
- formation
- concept/play call
- result
- direction / gap
- men in the box
- other info as I find it comes up for analysis.
It’s just a shit ton of time and I didn’t know if it would be too much into that people wouldn’t care for. It would answer questions like how many guys are in the box on average when we run out of shotgun vs other formations or how many guys are in the box on average and how do we fare
