Long enough that it's going to be an issue

Usually 4-6 weeks or so. He should be back for the playoffs. If he recoups quickly, they could try getting him some snaps in the Cincy game to get him in game shape for the playoffs.

I think it's just the opposite. We had an unusually small number of major injuries the last two years. This year is closer to normal.

Given this with Jimmy Smith, kind of wish we made a play for Aqib Talib. Headcase or not.

    Hindsight.

I think Harbaugh's training camps went a long way to increasing guys durability. His camps are cream puff now due to rules. This is the result.

The Smith kid, just cant stay healthy. Feel bad for him. It will hurt most in the nickel and dime package. Not sure their is any droppoff from Graham to either Williams/Smith. Graham would start on a lot of teams. Now, the question is do you use Graham on ST's as much, cant risk injury to him is the trickle down effect.

What is it about cornerbacks that makes them so injury prone?

As someone above stated, we've been incredibly fortunate with injuries the last two years. However, of the few injuries we've had, they always seem to revolve around cornerbacks.

2011- we were nearly completely healthy at every position (Lee Evans excluded). Yet, at CB we had multiple-week missing injuries to Carr and Smith and Foxworth

    2010- Foxworth missed whole year.

2009- Webb missed 2nd half of year. Fabian Washington missed 6 games.

2008- McAlister misses final 11 games. Rolle misses final 6.

The good thing is we only face one legit QB in rivers in the next 4 weeks since Ben is out which is a plus. I would say they play it safe with him and he comes back for the Giants game. He will probably start running and doing football drills in 3-4 weeks and can practice in 4 which would make the giants game (week 16) a decent return game for him. He has healed quickly as this has been nagging and he has played through it. It was good they took care of it now so he is fresh for the playoffs and hopefully the last 2 games of the regualr season.

C-Mac was pretty durable over most of his career here.
