Can anyone tell me how one of my favorites (Tyus Bowser) looked? He had 4 tackles (3 solo), 1 sack and 2 TFLs.

]Tyus Bowser still gets these flashes where I have hope he’ll figure it all out. He’s not there. But I think he’s 53-destined.

Further details on the 4 plays on which Bowser received stats, including (Q,T) for easy re-watching.

Things in the pass rush, he was blatantly held on one where the officials missed it i don’t know how they did.

He looked better than Williams or Ray. Still not what you'd like to see from a 2nd rounder.

Bowser didnt look too bad to me, but we dont have a premier pass rusher on this team.

I thought Bowser had his best game in purple.

Keep in mind that he wasn't drafted as a pass rush specialist. His forte was quickness to cover backs in the flat and flow to the ball. Anything they get out of him as a pass rusher is a bonus. Besides, I don't see Wink's defense as being dependent on a guy who can put his hand in the dirt and beat the tackle to the quarterback.

Thought everyone would like to know that Vinny Cerrato was on the radio bashing Bowser today, saying he is exactly the same guy he was last year and he'll never be any better than that. He is what he is, Vinny claims.

Which is nonsense. I have eyes. And my eyes weren't watching a hockey game or whatever he was doing last night. And we know that Harbaugh signaled him out as having his best week of practice going against the Eagles.

None of that appeases those looking for a pure pass rusher. Clearly Ray won't be part of the mix.

His name is Bozeman, and I am willing to wager $100 RSR bucks that he is the solution.

Let Skura compete at Guard (where he’s had past success) with London, Powers, Mekari (sp?), and Hurst.

Hollywood, Boykin, and Scott are a nice trio to build our WR room upon. Even if we lose Moore and Snead after this season, we are set up for the future. My hope is that they IR Wesley and have him in the weight room for next year. He's not fast but he'd be a nice compliment to the other guys. Plus his hands are probably the best in the WR behind Hollywood.

1000%. Would like to see him and Modster in the mix next year.

Good post sir, Vinny is just bad not sure what his angle is anymore, Bowser had is best game as a raven last night, while it wasn't light the world on fire performance it was a step in a positive direction for him...Shane Ray on the other hand? he won't even make the team I think.

Ken's notes on Bowser that confirm what everyone else is saying:

Bowser (+3/+3): Both Martindale’s usage of him and his results point to a big role in 2019. In terms of usage, he was inserted as the rush LB opposite Judon on the first 2 drives. Since Bowser and Judon are both Sam LBs known for their coverage skills, each would typically be paired with a rush LB such as Williams, McPhee, or Ferguson. However, inserting Bowser with Judon gives the Ravens more coverage flexibility, which ultimately offers more pass rush flexibility to generate a fast blitz pressure. In terms of play notes:

(Q1, 6:25): Monolithic RT Jordan Mialata (6’8”, 346 lbs) lined up illegally in an attempt to protect against Bowser’s speed rush

(Q2, 11:34): Tyus easily bounced off the shoulder block from RB Corey Clement for a 3-yard sack

(Q3, 11:01): He held the right edge vs RT Mialata to force Josh Adams inside for RM2

(Q3, 4:17): He drew a holding flag on the Eagles 1st-round draft pick, LT Andre Dillard

(Q3, 4:10): He and Daylon Mack failed to diagnose the screen left to Adams which went for a gain of 18

He saw rotational action until the last drive of the abbreviated game.

Williams, Tim (+1/+3): He entered on the 3rd drive and played rotationally to the end of the game. He had 1 QH, 3 other pressures, yet another pressure negated by penalty, 1 near PD (became a PD by Jones), 1 run tackle for a gain of just 1, and 1 nice edge set vs. Zach Ertz (Q1, 3:58). He also caused LT Andre Dillard to be flagged for illegal formation in deference to his speed rush (Q2, 5:35).

Jones, Cyrus (+2/+2): He took a step forward while other CBs took a step back. He slipped past the block of WR Mack Hollins to knock down a WR screen right 4 yards in the Eagles backfield (Q1, 2:47). When Martindale called an 8-man blitz (Q2, 2:00), Cyrus was left to cover WR Greg Ward between the hash marks on 3rd and 17. He kept the play in front of him, allowed the completion for a gain of 11, then took down Ward immediately to deny conversion. He entered on the last drive of the first quarter and played the remainder of the half.

Use of Bowser as the RUSH is great. He provides SAM depth behind Judon, but can factor in over at RUSH too.

Seems kinda the same as Eluminor. Like the coaches want him to be the LG. Is it even a competition then? I guess Powers is depth and maybe replace Yanda ?

I imagine there’s a lot more competing going on in practice than what we see
