At the end of the day, we have a people problem. People focus too much on the tool. Also, as has been said, it sounds like he was full-auto, which are already banned with the exception of those who get a permit, and to get a permit is extremely tough and expensive. The background checks those folks go through is pretty intense.

I'm waiting to see when they release what he was using. It might end up being a bump stock, which basically turns a semi-auto into and auto and is mostly legal. IMO they shouldn't be. I dunno, we'll see.
What he was using will be the key. They found 10 firearms in that room but no descriptions of what they were

If they do find that some of these were illegal full-auto weapons they need to figure out where he got them from and go after those guys. You don't need to change any laws. Just arrest whoever is selling illegal firearms and throw away the key

What they're saying now is he bought them as semi-auto and either illegally converted them, or perhaps was using the aforementioned bump stock. While technically still a semi-auto, a bump stock pretty much makes the gun capable of full auto.

If they outlaw murder, no one will be killed anymore. Pretty simple.

As stated this isn't a gun problem. He wanted to inflict carnage and he would have just found another way. The silencer thing amazes me as well, with that rate of fire I wish he did have a suppressor because it would have melted and the barrel would have blown out.

I guess the biggest question I still have is how can a person get that amount of firearms into the hotel without any suspicion. We are not talking about a couple guns. That would take multiple trips or one heavy load on a baggage cart. I'm all for privacy and I don't have the answer, but one would think that raises some suspicious.

Not if the MSM has anything to say about it, and they obviously do.

Bringing the weapons to his room via multiple trips up from the garage doesn't seem mysterious to me.

I imagine that security is looking for cheats, robbery, larceny and people smuggling things OUT and even then, only from certain floors.

Smuggling things IN--especially if a trade show coincided with the week/weekend--simply may not have stood out.

Plus I'm seeing he'd spend weeks at a time at casinos. So people could have just gotten used to seeing him and not even paid attention to what he was doing (assuming Mandalay was one he'd go to regularly).

    What is the actual problem?
How/why has the rest of the developed world solved the actual problem, yet the greatest country in the world hasn't/can't?

True. And assuming he was On The List at Mandalay then dozens of people no doubt waved, smiled, shook his hand, and happily took his generous tips each and every day. That's normal course of business, but man...to live with something like that would be disturbing. Ugh.
