OT: Roy Halladay 1977-2017

Dude's about my age. He apparently died doing what he loved most - flying a small aircraft over the sea.

(frankly, an awful lot of people die in small aircraft, and they are often celebrities because they either have the money to afford one, or are being escorted by one)

I'm sure this will be moved to the baseball board eventually, so.... Roy Halladay should be in the Hall of Fame and it would be ignorant of today's pitching climate to keep him out. Sadly, his death will probably help his cause even though it should have nothing to do with his candidacy.

Awful news, particularly for us die hard Canadian Jays fans. I know most on the board undoubtedly despise the Jays, rightfully so, but everyone has to have a lot of respect for Doc. Was just filthy at his best and always a class act playing for a pretty crappy team.

I'm not a baseball fan anymore. Back when I was Roy Hallady was a dominant force for the Blue Jays. For a while he was about the only good thing on the Blue Jays. He made them competitive which for a starting pitcher is almost impossible. He has to be almost perfect to make that happen and Hallady was almost perfect in those years. Great player and he will always be remembered and missed.

Earlier, we lost a Canadian legend and one of the best ambassadors our country has ever seen, Gord Downie.

Yeah I was shocked and saddened when I heard about it. Way too young to go. Helluva pitcher, and by all accounts a great guy too. Such a shame.
