    Thank you, Ozzie!

Since Eric DeCosta is officially taking over as GM, it's a good time to reflect on what Ozzie has done as an executive. I haven't always liked his philosophy or methods, but I can't argue with the results.

In 23 years as a GM, Ozzie has lead the Ravens to:

    - 4 HOFers drafted (Ogden, Lewis, Reed, Suggs; possibly 6 with Yanda and Tucker)
    - 11 playoff appearances (all since 2000)
    - 15 playoff wins
    - 5 division titles
    - 4 AFC Championship games
    - 2 Super Bowl titles

He's clearly going to get into the HOF as a GM, and it's well-deserved.

You forgot Yanda who is a HOF he drafted also, as well as bringing in Tucker who perhaps is a HOF some day as a UDFA.

I have bitched A LOT about him, his draft decisions/misses, and his way of building the team in recent years, but you really can not argue the results and the success we have had under him.

I hear you on the bitching part. It's easy to pick things that he has done that we don't like (Kindle, Correa, Kafusi, Redman etc.)

But when you look at the masterpiece this dude has put together as a GM its pretty amazing looking!

    Thanks OZ!

One of the best GMs in NFL history. Better GM than player? He's a Hall of Fame tight end. Tough call.

...and he is so respected around the league too. This after taking over a franchise that the NFL hated because they didn't want Art Modell to move the Browns... the team he played for all those years. I've never heard one Cleveland fan or writer bash Ozzie for GMing the Ravens.

The guy's become one of the Godfathers of football. Respect.

Ozzie Newsome is, without question, one of the greatest GMs in NFL history. There aren’t many people worthy of going into the Hall of Fame for two different roles, but he is one of them.

    Legend

How many can claim 2 Hall of Fame level careers?

Ozzie Newsome is one of the most successful people in NFL history. He's had 40 years of greatness in the NFL and that's after being a 4 year starter at Alabama.

It's almost impossible to fathom how incredible someone could be at every level

You forgot to add that he was also the first African-American NFL GM.

Thus far, I do not believe there is precedent for a person to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame a second time. He's definitely got a strong case for it.

I assume that he will be placed in the Ring of Honor next season, which will also force a re-design of the ring and likely get rid of the duplicated names. In the next few years, Suggs, and Flacco will be put up there as well.

Hall of Famer at Alabama. Hall of Famer with Cleveland and Hall of Fame credentials as a GM.
