It's 53 + Young on IR + Practice squad + expected PUP. Obviously there are some guesses about who will be on the 53 and the PUP.

Yes the number I quoted earlier was the current Rule of 51 number. My apologies. Obviously if the Ravens are going to hire an offensive lineman, a restructure or two is necessary. They might have to do a restructure just to have some breathing room for the season in the event of injury.

In either case I'm (I hope) sure they already have an agreement in principle with a couple of players so that they can act quickly if the right O-Lineman comes along.

Keep in mind, if a player is placed on IR and needs to be replaced, that adds to the cap.

The Ravens REALLY need a healthy training camp.

Would have to be a veteran with larger salaries.

Jimmy, Yanda or Joe would come to mind, though Joe's salary for this year isn't that big.

I hope they leave Joe's contract alone I don't want them to extend him and keep kicking that can down the road. Jimmy would be a good one.

Dead money is fucking killing us and it has for the last 2-3 offseasons. What have we had...like 2 seasons in a row with $17+ million in dead money...paying guys that aren't on the roster.

Fortunately, I don't see any obvious big cuts that would leave a lot of dead money this year like we did last...well, except for Pitta.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

    That Monroe contract is brutal.
