    Defense Getting Gashed by Running

Yesterdays game was great, but has me concerned that we are giving up too many yards to the run. I think we need to fix that aspect of the defense so it does not become a weak spot at Playoffs (and beyond).

It seemed to be on outside runs mostly. UP the gut, I think they had 1 maybe 2? I'm sure it's something that'll be worked on this week in practice.

may have had something to do with the 9ers being the #2 rushing team in the NFL.

    8th vs the run
    14th vs the pass
    10th overall in yards
    5th in points

...and that's after a bad start to the season. Not really an issue in my book.

Those stretch run designs are not unlike what the Ravens are doing. The perimeter guys were getting blocked out and the secondary was just missing tackles. They regrouped when it mattered.

Lets wait until this is more than a one week thing before we call it an issue. Not every team has the line the 49er's do, nor a TE that can block like Kittle does, nor the great offensive mind of Kyle Shanahan.

Looked like Kittle was crushing our edge defenders on those outzone plays, luckily everyone doesn't have a Kittle. Reminds me of when Kubiak used the same runs when the Ravens played against the Arian Foster era Texans.

All that, plus we're 10-2 w/the #1 seed in the AFC currently and have won 8 games straight. Sittin' in the catbird's seat.

Their perimeter guys (Kittle and OT's) are on part with Boyle and our OT's. It was impressive what they were doing.

Harbaugh admitted there were things to clean up on the edge. Sounds correctable. Nothing to see here. Besides they were the #2 rushing team in the league.

I personally dont know how correctable it is. KC gashed them on the edges too.

Its their weakness on D. Everyone has one. Just something you have to try and limit early in a game to take it off their gameplan.
