Re: The Movies/TV thread
Are there any other Rob Zombie fans here? I love pretty much all his movies, including the much maligned Halloween movies. The Devil's Rejects is one of my top five, perhaps my favorite horror movie of all time. The trailer for the 3rd film in that trilogy which also includes House of 1,000 Corpses was released a few days ago and I am so damn hyped for it. Bill Mosley who plays Otis is amazing in this role, as is Sheri Moon Zombie.

Re: The Movies/TV thread
Not a fan at all. His Halloween remakes were atrocious and its a disrespect to the entire Halloween legacy Franchise fro those films to even be associated.
I like some of his music but from a filmaker standpoint I do not get the fascination. Nothing but Shock and awe, not good acting, no good story line in my opinion on any of the movies.
I am big fan of horror, I love a good suspenseful thriller but the entire shock/gore genre like (Hostel, Devils Rejects) stuff I just have never found interesting.

Re: The Movies/TV thread
Please explain it to me? I just do not get the fascination.
Halloween part 1 for example.
Early on the movie, what is the fascination with seeing Michael Myers mom (stripper/slut) aspect? It was like he did that jsut to showcase his kind of sexy but loony looking wife then move to when They are filming him in the insane asylum, the (Two guards raping some random girl) in the same cell as a 7' 350lb lunatic? Why does a Rape scene need to be inserted there?
This is where his movies to me are nothing but (Shock & awe), its like what disgusting scene can he create to drub up something either sick or twisted.
If I had the privilege of making a movie much like his music fame has brought him I would want to do it right, not just make something disgusting.

Re: The Movies/TV thread
Some people just like the shock and awe as you describe it. Movies are a subjective thing. I like to see what filmmakers in the genre (torture-porn if you will, although I don't consider any of Zombie's movies to be in that genre) can come up with to top what has come before. When that whole thing exploded in the mid-00's I was very into it and while a bit less so today, I still like it. Increasingly wild methods of death and dismemberment and buckets of blood.
I don't even associate his Halloween films with the mainline series. To me they are something completely different, just like I said of Child's Play, a re-imagining of the story vs. sticking to what was done before. Makes them more of a generic slasher flick but it's a generic slasher flick I enjoy lol.back on twitter

Re: The Movies/TV thread
On the Halloween stories I think he gave a little “background “ with the mom thing. Then he basically gave the whole story an update. Let’s be real. Slasher films of the late 70’s and 80’s were great ....then. They’re just not scary now. Friday the 13th , Freddy , Mike Myers ...none of those movies viewed by today’s audience is scary. Too much “real scary” shit available on the net every day. So Zombie brings the “shock value” up by kinda making Mike into a real “monster” who has a twisted view of sex and females in general. And he still followed the basic premise of the movies.
Now House of 1000 Corpses I thought sucked balls! It made my head hurt. But Devils Rejects is up there with Texas Chainsaw for me as far as screwed up , could see this shit happen , horror.
The new generations soo desensitized that to make a “scary” movie ...you gotta cover shit that either can’t be explained “ exorcism, possession “ or just totally gross and over the top violent shit that can happen “ Hostel, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, etc”.
