    What I'm watching for tonight

    1. Gaither run blocking

    2. O-line in general

    3. Red Zone efficiency...we stunk in the RZ last year

    4. back up RB...Anderson and Smith

    5. back up QBs: Boller and Smith vs Olson

    6. Any signs the offense will be more open (deep throws, screen passes, 3-wide sets, etc.)

    7. Moore vs Darling...one of these guys has to go.

    8. new def. players...Burgess and Barnes esp.

    9. Overall crispness....tempo and lack of penalties.

    Thoughts?

Re: What I'm watching for tonight

I want to see more of PJ Daniels! I thought he had the best play of the scrimmage when he scored our only Touchdown. The ForeSkins stopped his first attempt to crack the goal line, but he didn't quit, they stopped his second attempt, and still he didn't quit, finally, just before he goes down he twists his hips, lurches with his shoulder, and gets the ball across the goal line! I thought it was a tremendous effort and showed he has a nose for the goal line! I want to see if he can hang onto the ball, in general this year as he could be a big surprise at RunningBack!
    ... They shall mount up with wings as Eagles;

Re: What I'm watching for tonight

I'm really interested in how our 2nd team unit performs in the game. We have such depth on the o-line suddenly that you shouldn't see our 2nd string o-line get beaten like a bunch of pansies.

Our depth at WR is decent also.

The 2nd team offense under Boller and Smith could really show us some things if Billick and Neuheisal open it up. That interests me.

The 1st string isnt going to get to do much this game.

The defense will be great as usual.

Gaither against a non raven DE will be interesting

Thumbs up Re: What I'm watching for tonight

here is my thumbs up / thumbs down from last night:

    1. Gaither run blocking: UP
saw much better results on the left side of the line all night. Ross and McGahee big runs were on this side.

    2. O-line in general: UP
pass blocking was solid. Right side had some issues w/ run blocking

    3. Red Zone efficiency...we stunk in the RZ last year: UP
2 TD drives and came away w/ points 5 other times. But we shouldn't see Stover kicking 5 FGs too often

    4. back up RB...Anderson and Smith: DOWN
Smith did nothing and Anderson took very few snaps

    5. back up QBs:
Boller: DOWN...still looks a little lost and nervous. Drive before halftime he looked better

Smith: DOWN - a work in progress...accuracy seems to be an issue

Olson: UP - other than McNair he looked the best of all the QBs. I would HATE to see this guy end up on the practice squad and get nabbed by another team....but I would bet money that is what will happen.

    6. Any signs the offense will be more open (deep throws, screen passes, 3-wide sets, etc.): DOWN
only b/c there were no deep throws alll night and only a few screens...but I did see more 3-wide sets.

    7. Moore vs Darling...one of these guys has to go.: DOWN
neither did a thing to impress me last night

    8. new def. players...Burgess and Barnes esp.: UP
they looked fast and hungry....I see a future here for these 2 guys.

    9. Overall crispness....tempo and lack of penalties.: UP
offense looked much better than other first preseason games.
