    A Busy 40 Seconds

Great read on what a QB has to process in the NFL between plays.

The column does a good job of explaining why the mental aspect is so important to successful QB play. If most of those things do not come almost automatically to a QB, he has little to no chance of success. One of the strengths of guys like Brady and Manning is that they have a great aptitude for processing defensive coverages, alignments, etc., identifying defensive weaknesses and then attacking those weaknesses.

The article also did a great job of explaining how important it is for the Off Coordinator and the QB to be in sync.

I was watching MNF with GB playing and as just as Aaron Rogers lined up under
Center John Gruden said he has already read the defense and knows where he's
going. He even drew lines on the screen showing his likely points of attack.

Unitas always said you have 2 seconds to throw the ball, that's all, and that was back then
before the game got so much faster.

Good read. It really gives perspective as to why it is so difficult for rookie QB's.
