Line on Ravens/Texans (merged discussions)
Ravens have opened at 1.42 on the moneyline vs. Houston (Bet of $1 returns bet + 42 cents).
Houston is 1.42 this week and is a 5.5 to 6 point favorite.

Texans are a lot less dangerous without andre johnson. If they look bad this sunday I'd imagine the Ravens would be 7 point favorites.

Wait what?!?!
Texans opened as a TD favorite? What site and why am I not withdrawing my life savings?

I am not a gambler; the last time I wagered on anything was when my Mother took me to Catholic school BINGO when I was about ten, but I think if a one dollar bet only returns an additional $.42, I think that means the Ravens are the favorite next week, not Houston.

I don't bet either and I guess I'm confused about the last sentence.

We are favored against Houston at the moment by 5.5 or 6
Houston is favored by a similar amount this week.
I think that's what Film said

Re: Early line on Ravens/Texans
I don't understand gambling terminology, but from Filmstudy's analogy of home team Texans point spread, I would expect to see the Ravens as 6 point favorites; that looks to be a little generous.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Re: Early line on Ravens/Texans
Yeah, no chance Texans are laying five to seven against us in our house. That spread as is suggests we'd be almost even money if we were playing in TX.
Spread looks about right to me. I'd have said 4.5 or 5.
