Domonique Foxworth: "There really is no deal until our players approve it"

As reports suggest a handshake deal is near between the NFL and its players, Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth issued a word of caution. "All the reports that are floating around ... there really is no deal until our players approve it," Foxworth told the NFL Network as he left the site of the negotiations.

Sorry Domonique, there really is no deal until both sides approve it.

    Just sayin'...

Me personally, I got the feeling he said this more to look good to his fellow players. Basically saying that all the players get a say in this, and making him look good for the next time they vote on an NFLPA president.

The player reps were put in place by all the players to get a deal that would be in their best interest. I would think the chances of the deal getting rejected by the players is minimal. And if it does, that means the player reps are not doing a good job, since they didn't sell the deal to their constituents. Same deal for the labor committee and the NFL owners.

Well that's obvious Domonique. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thumbs down Re: Domonique Foxworth: "There really is no deal until our players approve it"

I cheer for the 11 guys purple uniforms, not individual players. However, if this douchebag is still on the team this Fall, I'll be cheering for just 10 guys on Defense.

Stay classy T, nice to see you putting politics aside to support the team.

politics I have no idea what Dominique's political views are, and could care less.

My problem with him was serving as one of the union bosses who have been trying to bring the league down. This thread is about Dominique and the labor agreement.

I think it's pretty darned admirable that guys like Foxworth and Saturday are spending so much of their time advocating for fellow players. Even Peyton Manning (who's a named plaintiff) has been spending his time filming commercials. These guys are seriously outmanned in the negotiating room, going up against some heavy duty business minds. When you consider that most players are probably spending their off time playing X-Box (or worse in the case of a certain Pittsburgh QB), I give Foxworth a lot of respect.

Nothing is less believable than an staunch anti-unionist pretending that pro and anti unionism views aren't political stances.

Don't be disingenuous T, embrace your anti-union rhetoric for what it is.

Meanwhile, if you mean what you say and actually root against Foxy on gameday, see how many people in the stadium side with you.

I don't think it's admirable as much as investing in their post playing days careers. Troy Vincent was very involved with the NFLPA for more than a decade and that led to Vice Presidents job with the NFL.

How does one talk about the pros / cons of a deep-seeded political issue like a labor dispute without being political?

Oh, enlighten us, holier than thou ASB, since you seem to so be far removed from the fray ...
