OT - Good article on Johnny U

Really nice piece on the greatest QB of all time.

That was a nice piece. Anyone interested in Johnny U and the Baltimore Colts should pick up the Callahan biography titled "Johnny U." It was written about 3 years ago.

The incident where his nose was broken and bloody was much more severe than the recent Roethliberger injury. Unitas' face looked like "someone hit him with an axe". Before throwing the winning TD pass with time running out he basically made up a play on the spot giving recievers specific instructions on how many steps to take, when to plant and go the other direction, etc. It's amazing to me that he could think so calmly with seconds left on the clock and his face and nose all bloody-and then execute it perfectly.

The time that the guy jumped on his chest with both knees and broke 3 ribs and punctured his lung almost killed him. They thought he would probably not play football again. He was back later that season wearing a flack jacket to protect his busted ribs.

He had a high tolerance for pain.
