    Interesting McNair/Offensive Statistics

I know alot of people were pleased with McNair's QB Rating this pre-season, and obviously that is an important number. But here are 2 other interesting/encouraging stats, that I found when crunching some numbers of our offense behind McNair this pre-season.

I put in parenthesis, how these numbers would've ranked in the NFL last year (just to put these stats/numbers in perspective). Keep in mind, that despite the stinker that we put up in Minnesota, these numbers still look very respectable.

3RD DOWN PERCENTAGE (We were 16th in the NFL last year at 39.1%)
    9/20 - 45% (Would have ranked 2nd in 2005, behind only Indy)

YDS/PLAY (We were 27th last in NFL last year at 4.4yd/play)
    5.1 YDS/Play (Would have been T/12th in 2005)

I guess the point is that despite a few bumps in the pre-season, I do believe this offense is taking some very big steps in the right direction. And they're only going to continue to improve over the course of the season, in becoming a more & more effecient.

That equates to winning the TOP battle and controlling the clock and game.
