    OT / Bye Bye Huff

O's trade Huff to the Tigers.

Never liked him after he slammed Baltimore. From the sound of it, looks like this was mutual. I like the move and not for my personal feelings towards Huff.

Im glad to see MacPhail continue to cultivate young pitching ala the Red Sox of the past 10+ years.

And so now who is going to fill 1st base? Huff did nothing but hit, minus the slump he went into a little bit ago. But he's been a good player here.

I'm not so big on this move.

Paper said Luke Scott will start now.

You're right from a strict numbers standpoint. But this is a smart long term move, IMO.

His best season was last season and had slightly above average numbers this year, a years that's over and done with.

You really think he was going to stay anyway?

EDIT: Just checked out Huff's career stats. GREAT time to dump him! This season is one of his worst over his 10 year career. Good value move, IMO.

Yes. He wanted to stay here. He said it many times, even since the radio incident. And the word from the clubhouse is that he really enjoyed his teammates and coaches.

    Yawn.

I said they should've dealt him at the deadline last year and it looks like that would've been the right move.

He would've gotten us a nice haul.

Instead we get a single A reliever.

I don't care that he's gone but it's ashame that we could've gotten alot more.

We might get him back next year anyway. He is a free agent at the end of this year.

We did this with Surhoff, and Conine back in the day.

Yea, in the days of reguritating (sp?) has beens in an attempt to tell fans they were gonna compete.

    Did it with Bordick too.

I pray (and believe) those days are over.

The problem I have is what we could've gotten for him.

    O well, it's done now.

This team is hard to watch right now.

I would put Weiters there and save him for a long career. catching will shorten his career by a bunch

Agreed on all counts. I will stick on my opinion it was a mistake to move him. But now that he's gone, there is no reason to bring him back.

And yes, this team is absolutely impossible to watch right now. That 9 run 13th inning yesterday just did it for me.

Re: OT / Bye Bye Huff

You all have me beat on O's scoop but I just dont see how keeping Huff helps with trade and / or FA value.

To this lay person, seems like a smart move on an aging player who more than likely has seen his finest days already.

Why not give Scott a shot at this point?
