Stockers - The One Armed Bandit

Just an update on my health for the UKRavens, my rookie season playing for the Norwich Devils is now over. I badly broke my left humerus blocking on a kick return against the Ipswich Cardinals on Sunday. I was hit in the back as I was blocking someone and had my left humerus snapped clean in half, the break was displaced one inch, paramedics said it's the worst break they've ever seen, and I will say it was damned painful.

Had surgery to put a plate in on Tuesday and I'm now back at my flat resting up with my mum looking after me, I'm really rather incapable of doing much at all as I have to keep my left arm as immobile as possible.

So yeah, my rookie season's done and I'm out of any athletic endeavours for 3-5 months. :(

That is bad news Stockers.Heal up fast bud. Just to let you know I played five seasons without one injury. But you'd never catch me on those dang special teams. That is for crazy people.Though I did hear plenty of snapping bone around way back when.

One coach even made us do piggy back races in full kit.I was on top of one guy.He turned to run back the other way and his foot caught in the astroturf.
His leg kind of faced the wrong way.

Or Tyrone Lindsay holding me in mid air like Darth Vader did to that rebel trooper in star wars for easing up on tackling a team mate. Then the next practice putting out our american star WR for the season for a hit to the ribs.Where he had a hole under his armpit, and some yuk coming in and out when he breathed. You just can't win.

Anyway my secret for my luck with no injuries. Was Jane Fonda's aerobic workout video. And no I didn't wear pink ankle warmers.

    Take care.

All my years of playing as a kid, mostly without pads in backyards and streets, and never broke a bone or did much more than twist an ankle.

    Good luck on the recovery.

That's the first X-ray I had taken to show the extent of the damage.

Two weeks after my op I'm now almost completely out of the sling, the plate provides all the support the bone needs. Now a case of allowing the bone to heal, re-building the strength in my left arm (I sat in my car this morning and couldn't even move the gear stick from side to side) and recovering the range of motion in my left elbow which is very limited from it being sat in a sling for the past two weeks.

Now that sounds a sweet idea. Stockers you can tell everyone you broke your arm to get the autographs of all the Raven players.

I am going up to the roof now.Wonder what I can get for two broken legs?

All kidding aside. That looks painful to say the least. I am sure our wonderful NHS gave you all the help you could.:grbac: God I hope you went private.

Hope you get full movement etc back. I am starting to feel the affects of 5 years of playing american football. Its nice hearing my knee bones grind together going upstairs.

Toe, I've got it on my computer only, I'll e-mail it over to you so you can print it off. It'd appear X-rays are all digital now, no need for big sheets and those light boxes anymore.
