Re: The 'Teleprompter' President
Then, where, pray tell do you get all this bad information? It's not in the paper I read...
I have a brother... president of our paving company, who spouts Rush at every oppurtunity he gets... And the stuff you said in that post is almost word for word what I am forced to listen to from him quoting Rush.... Take it for what it's worth.

Re: The 'Teleprompter' President
The coal industry has for far too long been the stated reason that states who mine coal pay more for all other services than non coal producing states. In WV, and Pa, both huge coal producing states, any work done for ANY form of government requires a rate of pay that equals what the coal industry is paying... We pay, for instance, 45 dollars per hour for labor on WV and Pa projects...Equipment operators are substantially higher! That's more than most managerial positions...

Re: The 'Teleprompter' President
But the fact still remains that a child whose parent(s) are 1) not at home, 2) too busy working 2 or 3 jobs , 3)a drug addict who doesn't care, still deserve as much of an education as ANY one else has!!! NOT ALL are born into even "decent" conditions.
Not every kid has parents who push and instill a desire for education. The kid should NOT be penalized for that.
That's like saying that a kid who is abused by his/her parents is to blame for the abuse!

Re: The 'Teleprompter' President
I know a kid I went to Highschool was literally homeless while in school. His mom was out of the picture, and his dad a real loser. He worked 30+ hours during high school(giving the majority of the money to his dad) and got good grades. They lived in an abandoned business.
He looked me up on facebook recently becuase i was one of few who didn't pick on him. he is now a business and homeowner.
So while I understand that some kids can break through barriers liek this, they are few and far between. A healthy family structure is the best predictor of lifelong success as an adult.

Re: The 'Teleprompter' President
You're making the argument negative. And your argument is easy because it can apply to any household. It still doesn't change the fact that Balto City schools receive exponentially more $$$ and have almost nothing to show for it. Watch the HBO Series about Douglass High and get back to me....

Re: The 'Teleprompter' President
I'm NOT arguing with you on that point..My whole point is that not having to pay for schooling is socialistic... and there's NOTHING wrong with that. Socialism and capitalism work hand in hand in many instances... and where it is an established practice from the beginning of our country... it's ok. But anything else is not? Who says? You? Can you explain why?
In case you didn't know, you conservatives who tout the constitution and cringe at ANY thought of ANY change to it... There was originally , in this country, The Bank of America.... owned by the Federal Gov't... (That's the way it was set up by our founding fathers)
... which was destroyed by Andrew Jackson... creating mass confusion and economic turmoil, leading to every bank printing it's own currency, making counterfeiting as easy as rolling out paper and scribbling on it(exaggeration)., eventually morphing into our current system. I'm not making a case for Fed owned banks, or the opposite, simply that there just MIGHT be SOME things that they didn't get right... or, amazingly as it seems to conservatives, some things that need to be changed... just because the world is just a tad different than it was in the 1780's(opposite of exaggeration)Last edited by Rochardrik; 04-02-2009 at 12:10 PM.

Re: The 'Teleprompter' President
In less than 100 days, Obama, via the Dem Congress, has managed to triple the deficit -- making it three times more then it's highest under W.
No spin there. That's fact. He now owns our debt.
I am starting to realize that some people actually like their lives under total control, so long as that control comes from someone with a (D) after their name.

Re: The 'Teleprompter' President
But I thoguth he was going to cut it in half?
That couldn't have come from reading this forum could it have? Because I don't talk to people in real life that like what is going on, that is for sure.
I don't understand how anyone believes one single word out of this guy's mouth. In 100 days he has lied more hten I have in almost 30 years.
