Dawan Landry & Chris McAlister officially on IR

The Ravens filled their two open roster spots with wideout Marcus Maxwell and linebacker Robert McCune.

Do we really need another linebacker?

We always need Linebackers! They are the backbone of our team! I also find it interesting that Antwan Barnes wasn't active this week.

Does signing a scrap heap WR to the active roster suggest that Mason is a no go v. the Giants?

I would think it is more about the injury to Copper and over lack of depth at the position. From what I have heard Mason is just pretty sore but should be fine to go on Sunday.

No, that doesn't really make any sense, unless Mason was to go on IR (God Forbid). It's going to take at least a couple weeks for the guy to learn the play book, which makes him a special teamer only that won't get time on Sunday. If the Ravens felt like they needed a WR, they would have re-signed Wheelwright.

This signing seems like a "early training camp" signing. I doubt this guy even gets on the 45-man this season. But the Ravens want to see if they can get their large deep threat WR of the future on the cheap. Not very likely.
