Re: Kamala Harris Performed Horrible With Black and Hispanic Men
Please, I am sure there are very good illegal immigrants, but they broke the law to begin with. That's where it starts. You and the Democrats want to just gloss over it. There's probaly tens of millions of people all over the world that would love to just walk in to the United States.......you think they all should be allowed? Also, there's a drain on our resources. Those kids have to go to school, people get sick with no insurance, have babies. Just stop........we're not being xenophobic. it's a matter of economic sense in many ways. Does Argentina just let people come in and get tax dollar resources? Can I go to Argentina and demand citizenship? You talk about people traveling across deserts, without guarantees and live hidden, persecuted? Puuuuhhhhlease. They live a 100 times better then where they came from, why do you think they come? Their criminals? they should be prosecuted at the border when they come in. Returned to Mexico.
Are you a Argentinian or an American?
The problem isnt the immigrants........it's illegal immigration. Difference......big difference. If illegal immigration didn't exist there would be no illegal immigrant problem...... would there?
The point I will agree with you on is that they very often do jobs Americans don't want to do. Maids in hotels, dish washers, many laborious jobs. That's not reason enough to just look the other way. We shouldn't address a better system for those who want to migrate till we fix the illegal immigration issue.
Lastly, what do you say to those people who do it the proper way? Who pay large sums of money, wait their turn? Who do it the legal way? Sorry....oh well?Always buying Antique and vintage items......

No,no, no.
They will do those jobs for PAY Americans find too low.
If you want wages to rise at the bottom then send these immigrants home.
I am a Libertarian when it comes to this. I am for letting people come in fairly easily to work. NO BENEFITS. None, no free phones and hotels, no free meals.
There are no jobs Americans won't do if they get paid enough.

Re: Kamala Harris Performed Horrible With Black and Hispanic Men
Disagree, I work in the construction industry. Go ahead and try to find a young American of any ethnicity to work. Of course people will do menial jobs for a wage that is outrages for that job. That''s the type of thinking where young people think they should get a "living wage" for flipping hamburgers. That's not how it works in the real world. Sure a kid will dig ditches for $25 an hour, do menial labor for $60,000 a year. But do you want the average house to cost $550,000? A hamburger to cost $22 at McDonalds?
I had a kid sitting there watching me work one day......he say's to me, if I made the kind of money you make, I would work hard too. That was his last day of work. That's the attitude of the young American worker.
I am all for sending immigrants home. I honestly think one day will come there will be a day of reckoning and we will see another economic depression of historic proportions. We can not continue to rack up dept and the system not collapse. When that day comes young people will beg to do those jobs. There will be an attitude adjustment for sure. The problem with young people today is that they have never had to "rough" it. Have no clue what it's like to not have food, or money......a $6 cup of coffee, or a $1000 phone in there hand. Young Americans are the most spoiled, entitled people in the entire world......bar none.
What's that ol' saying? Hard times make hard men, Hard men make soft times, soft times make soft men. Soft men make hard times. Right now we have soft men, hard times will follow.
edit: one more thing, I can only speak for the construction industry because that is what I work in. Latino's don't work as cheap as you may think. You see those Latino's hanging around the Home Depot's looking for work? Last ime I tried to hire a couple to help me on a project they wouldn't even talk to me for less then $175 a day. You say that's not very much? Two guys cost me $350, to pay them that I would have to make around $500 before I would even start to break even. Add in a truck, etc. and before I even make one dime we're up over a $1000. Before we start working for the day I am a thousand in the hole. Them two Latino's don't start making money till after lunch.......oh and BTW, most times they want you to buy them lunch as well.
So to hire an American worker by your standards I would have to pay them $52,000 a year? That's a thousand a week.......$25 an hour? Then I have to match taxes, match social security, workman's comp, having employees cost more for things like accountants ect. So that employee cost me in reality a 100K a year. I need two so that's $200K a year I have to make before me or my company makes one dime. What happens is that we hire workers as "sub's" and 1099 them. They have to buy liability insurance and their own health insurance. They make more but overall they cost the business less. I know companies that1099 office personnel.Last edited by ThankyouArt!; 11-13-2024 at 08:31 AM.

Re: Kamala Harris Performed Horrible With Black and Hispanic Men
I know some young people who are gladly going into the trades. Yes, they want to get paid well. That makes my point.
Are there some with a bad attitude? Sure, but they should quickly sink in prospects until they learn to put in a day's work for the pay you agreed to when getting hired.
As for Latinos, I did say I am a Libertarian and I don't have an issue with those folks coming here to work. But the amount of migration needs to be limited. It has to be legal. It needs to require that the migrant have established a sponsor or job lined up where we will not have them end up on government benefits the second they step onto our land.

Re: Kamala Harris Performed Horrible With Black and Hispanic Men
One problem with more collectivist ideologies and identity politics is that failure is more likely to be characterized as an act of betrayal. Betrayal triggers a different kind or degree of response than, say, disappointment. It becomes easier to blame the "group." Any time you deal with groups you run the risk of being overinclusive or underinclusive in your assessment. When the group characteristic is something immutable like sex, race, ethnicity -- well, you spawn a whole lotta problems.
If your ideology is more individiual-rights based, then a failure to win an election is more likely to be characterrized as disappointment rather than a betrayal. You were never entitled to any person's vote. You had to earn it by persuading that person with something other than appeal to group solidarity. Failure becomes a lesson in how to better convince brains; it's less of lesson on how to congeal groups. And, for super-duper bad guy like Musso-mao-sta-ler, it's harder to identify who to blame, who to round up, and who to...do bad things to.
When libertarians fail then you are inclined to just shrug your shoulders and say, "Well, whatcha gonna do; you can't herd cats."
When collectivists fail then you are more inclined to sneer, "We gotta herd these sheep."

Re: Kamala Harris Performed Horrible With Black and Hispanic Men
I imagine we've all seen the meme that's a cartoon featuring three men standing on a line. The far left end is labeled Democrat, the far right end is labeled Republican, and in the middle, equidistant, is labeled Moderate. The person at the far left rushes farther and farther to the left stretching the line between him and the man in the middle, pulling the Moderate label with him. The man in the middle, who hasn't moved, now is on the Republican side. The man at the far left yells to the man in the middle, "Why have you changed?!"
My mother loves Reagan. But she never donated to his or any political campaign. She watched the news and...
"What do you mean boys can be girls?"
"Why should I be afraid to speak my mind? This is America."
"Four hundred million dollars -- when the bank got its money?"
The last straw:
"What do you mean it only takes four people on the jury to agree on the crime?"
Enough was enough. She opened up her purse and made a donation to his campaign.
They overplayed their hand and in doing so revealed just how mean-spirited and auhoritarian they could be...all while the "good" people in the media, law, and academy cheered on.
She'd seen -- had lived through it -- before.
She wasn't going to passively stand by and watch it happen again.
Not here.
Not in America.
Trump's line: "They're not after me, they're after you, and I just happen to be standing in the way" resonated with her.
My mother stood near the middle of that meme's line and watched as so many of the "good" people ran off the deep end.Last edited by Forgettable1; 11-15-2024 at 10:38 AM.
