He is a U.S. Senator from a purple state (Arizona) and is a centrist Democrat. Mark Kelly also has a military background. He served as a US Navy combat pilot and later as a NASA astronaut. This is exactly the type of person who would resonate with voters in the upper Midwest states that the Democrats need to win this election. A left wing liberal could not win their votes. Plus, Arizona is a border state and Kelly has more conservative views on illegal immigration than Biden’s terrible policies. No idea if that ticket would win the election, but it would make for an interesting election race.

Here's the problem, Kelly has no money. I don't think they can use the Biden money except with Harris at the top.

In any case, he has a short time to ramp up.

If he is a good candidate, why put him in this spot? Why would he want to be. Best to hold him for 28.

I don’t think the Dems could reasonably go with anyone other than Joe or Kamala.

First, all that campaign funding was for them. It can’t be transferred to someone else (or so I’ve read). Additionally, anyone other than Kamala and Joe weren’t on the ballot during the primaries. So, nominating someone else would blatantly circumvent the Democrat process completely.

Lara Trump already said if the DNC does this, they will sue for violating the Democratic process.

Finding a moderate in the Democrat Party is like finding a needle that a unicorn dropped in a haystack. The Squad is feared by all Dems in Congress and they would not stand for a moderate. AOC is still backing Biden last I heard.

As far as I’ve seen she has no interest in running for any office and definitely not president so she is a phantom in your head as far as that’s concerned.

Not if Biden steps down voluntarily. Also, Biden isn’t the nominee until he is nominated at the Democratic convention.

No, Harris being on the ticket is key, even as the VP would allow a Kelly/Harris ticket to use the money that the Biden/Harris ticket has raised. If Harris isn’t on the ticket then that money could not be used by other people.

AOC represents the Democratic Party as much as Marjorie Taylor Green represents the Republican Party. These people on both sides are loud, but the rest of their respective Party isn’t afraid of them.

Although I can understand why you think this, I would not agree unless and until a legal ruling was made to confirm it. I mean, for example, anyone could say they are running, just to bring in tons of cash, then decide to drop out at the last minute. I wonder if there's any real, actual legal precedence? I'm gonna say I'm not so sure about all this....for now. It's also at least possible, that they may have to return all the donations. I have maintained all along that they might try to drag Joe across the finish line, officially nominate him, THEN have him resign. For health reasons, of course......

So they are going to leap frog Harris just so they can use her money. Try selling that to the blacks and lefties that preach DEI. Good luck selling that BS.

    Re: Biden stepping down?

Well, Biden just stepped aside and endorsed Harris. I think Trump will beat Harris, so what was the point of pushing Biden out if they were only going to nominate someone who will still lose?

If I were the Democrats, I would be cold-blooded about it. Keep Harris as the VP for the campaign funds and pick someone at the top of the ticket who can win PA, MI, WI, and MN.

It’s not her money. That money was donated to the Biden/Harris ticket. Yes, keep her as the VP for the campaign cash and put someone at the top of the ticket who can win the upper Midwest states that the Democrats need to win this election.

The U.S. has never elected a woman for President much less a black woman. If the stakes are really that high in this election, then they should pick someone who can win and not go all DEI about it. Harris is a bad campaigner or at least she was in 2020. Also, what has she accomplished as VP? I can’t think of anything. She mostly speaks to minority audiences about topics like abortion rights. That’s the biggest layup for any Democratic candidate.
