Re: OT: International Summer Soccer Thread
The next round of Group matches begins tomorrow. Squads that have won 2 by Sunday are all but locked to advance, squads that have lost 2 by Sunday are all but eliminated.
Here's to a stellar 4 days of football!

Re: OT: International Summer Soccer Thread
So far, from what I saw, weak euro.
It is more entertaining because of the fights and theft of flags than because of the football itself.
The historical teams win by hierarchy more than by good play, and the mediocre teams continue to be so

Re: OT: International Summer Soccer Thread
If the Netherlands beats France without Mbappe, this could get interesting in that group.

Re: OT: International Summer Soccer Thread
Way too premature and dismissive. First leg of group stage tends to be uneven. But Portugal and Belgium didn't win based on hierarchy? That's a baffling statement to me.
Albania, Austria, Slovenia, Romania playing their tails off. Georgia-Turkiye was a great match.
I'm enjoying it despite Croatia's struggles 😅

Copa America kicks off tonight with Argentina v Canada. Looking forward to it.
The only Euros match I've watched so far was Germany's smackdown of Scotland. But I'll be all over the knockout round for sure.

Re: OT: International Summer Soccer Thread
Portugal and Belgium,
They are teams with good marketing, some individual hierarchy and zero team play.
so far I didn't like what I saw
(which was not all).
We will see today with Italy and Spain.
And today, in Argentina, we began to say goodbye to Di María, since this will be his last tournament with the national team, as he announced, I think he could be there for a while longer, but these are personal issues.

Re: OT: International Summer Soccer Thread
USA don’t look half bad. Good first half vs Bolivia. They have all the possession and all the chances. Up 2-0.
There is such a stark contrast watching the Euros in day and Copa America at night. Every player in the Euros seems to have such a deft touch. The ball is always under control. Copa America, much more about winning 50/50 balls, cuz the ball is under so much less control.
