Not looking good for Scotland. Germany looking like contenders right now. Quite worrying actually.

Home field on the opening night is an incredible advantage. Plus Germany is damn good. Worst case scenario for the Scots I'm afraid.

Germans could very well win this whole thing but I'd expect them to come down just a tad going forward.

I have a feeling that Hungary has a shot against them or can at least get a draw. They have a great manager.

Nope, that's not how it works. If anything, and out of the two competitions, he could miss the Olympics, because Barca (or any other team with its players for that matter) can stop Yamal from participating in the Olympics, whereas if the RFEF says Yamal goes to the Euros, he goes.

No, I get that. I’m saying, originally, Spain was rumored to be considering just having him do the Euros, before the final squad list had to be submitted.

    Ah, gotcha.
La Liga starts I think less than a week after the Olympics so yeah, from the clubs' perspective it is less than ideal. Then again, I'm pretty sure the young players would like to experience that. Funnily enough, Yamal could play in France 2024 and still play in the 2028 Olympics without using a +23 slot.

I actually typed it wrong, but you got my point. Lol. Spain was rumored to only have him do one or the other, due to what happened when they let Pedri do both.

So it makes sense that Barca said let him do the Euros instead and that’s the one Spain would want him for the most anyway.

I just got home and ESPN.com has informed me that Spain is laying some smackdown on Croatia.

I’m rooting for Italy, so excited to see them kick off their tournament. Spain and Germany certainly staked their claims to the top spots so far.

Well we’ve definitely seen this from Spain before, at the very beginning of the tournament. They haven’t often been able to keep it going on the goal scoring front, as the tournament goes on.

Question regarding Great Britain- why is it that in the Olympics- England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland all join together and compete as Great Britain, but in Rugby and Soccer those countries compete independently as 4 seperate teams?

You are still putting too much weight on what Barca can or cannot say. The clubs have no say at all in deciding if their players go to the Euros or any other UEFA/FIFA sanctioned international window competition (which, crucially, the Olympics is not)
