Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
Milei's vice president was the one who presented the law, and it was approved unanimously.
If Milei agreed, he could veto it, to approve laws gifting embassies, salary increases and designating family members.
They will like his speech, but he is crazy, he has been here for 6 months, and there is more inflation, more unemployment and consumption has fallen

Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
And without offending, you talking to me about Argentine politics is like me talking to you about US politics.
The only salaries that increased were from politics, where 95% are corrupt, everyone, from all political parties.

Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
Your vice president is like our vice president. They only vote on a tie breaker. In this country Senate can override a veto and I believe same as yours The Senate is controlled by the opposition regardless if you like that or not. Inflation has also went down.
It was also not approved unanimously and I read a few articles before. Apparantly it was a show of hands which is beyond ridiculous.I don't know a lot but I know a little

Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
We have people on this forum who defend Biden. Just living in a country doesn't mean you make the smart choices.
I don't need a house in Buenos Aires to know that a near 300% inflation rate is a terrible for an economy. The Argentinian economy was such a gigantic cluster-fuck that over the last decade your currency has lost 90% of its value to the dollar. You owe 45 billion to the IMF. https://apnews.com/article/argentina...53af37908bcb78
It's gonna suck. Chemo therapy is putting poison into the body to kill cancer cells before they can kill you. Milei is facing the same hurdle. The Argentinian economy has been fubared for so long that there's no magic wand to fix it. It will hurt this year, but you'll come out the other side much better off."A moron, a rapist, and a Pittsburgh Steeler walk into a bar. He sits down and says, “Hi I’m Ben may I have a drink please?”

Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
I think I owe an apology for my answer, it was not the right one and it was out of place.
I understand that they view Milei with affection, but:
Milei accused that the problem of inflation is the continuous issuance of money by the previous government. Milei, in 4 months, issued more money than all of last year and "theoretically" lowered inflation.
Did they lie before or did they lie now?
Milei spoke of cutting expenses for the "political caste", the only salaries that increased above inflation were those of politicians.
Meat consumption in Argentina dropped to a level not seen more than 100 years ago.
Inflation is going down because there is no consumption, people's money is worth less.
There are many more things but it would be very long to explain.
Milei came to ensure certain businessmen access to high-value products: lithium (that's why he is such a friend of Musk), Vaca Muerda oil, fresh water from Patagonia, and his open skies policy (doubtful airlines). origin so that the drug has easy access and can be distributed well).
Milei was an economic advisor to drug traffickers (maybe that's why he gets along well with Bukele, or seriously they think he destroyed the gangs with personality alone)

Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
Do you believe at all the opposition party that controls the Senate has anything to do with this or is it just strictly Milei in your opinion? I cant find nothing about "issueing" more money only that a higher note of 10,000 peso will be circulated. Less cash to carry amirite? The pay raises I already explained about over riding the veto (Art 83 in your Constitution) so blame Milei? I agree about purchasing power/consumption but it's gonna be a hard damn road. Yes there's gonna be hits. The IMF recently gave high marks to the progress Argentina is making and that's major.

Trying to understand your hatred for Milei. Maybe you a govt worker and don't want to see privitization. And also why against foreign investment?
Can you also give me some sort of link about Milei being an economic advisor to drug traffickers?Last edited by Willbacker; 07-16-2024 at 04:47 PM.

Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
Control of the Senate is held by the ruling party, the opposition party is the first minority, that is why the presidents of the chambers, define in case of a tie, are ruling parties.
Two higher denomination bills of 10 thousand and 20 thousand are going to circulate, that is issuing money, the trick they made is that they printed them in China, not here when we have the means.
I blame everyone for the increase in political salaries, because everyone voted in favor, and Milei can veto that increase but he didn't, he needed the votes to pass the law and that's how they bought off some senators.
I am not against foreign investment, I am against that investment being with unclear rules, which greatly favor them, I do not want to sell you raw materials so that you can sell me the finished product, I do not want to sell you lithium, so that you can sell me sell the battery. That is something they have been doing for too long, which is why countries can never take off.
Argentina has the capacity to export nuclear reactors, a satellite system to provide internet, but Milei, instead of investing and improving, prefers to privatize and give away knowledge, not to mention Vaca muerte. with 800 million dollars towards a gas pipeline to be sovereign in energy matters, but decided to stop the work and buy gas from Bolivia and Brazil.
In Argentina, education is public, secular and free, as is access to health, you come to live in Argentina and you will be able to go to school or university, or to the hospital and they will treat you for free, whether you have it or not. social work.
and I like it that way. Milei is contrary to that, among one of many things.
between many other things.

When I refer to free, since it is financed with everyone's taxes, I mean that there is no extra charge, no registration fee, nor are student loans necessary. Your only expenses are going to be transportation, school supplies

Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
One of Milei's main advisors is Jose Luis Espert, former presidential candidate, who was financed by Federico Machado, who was imprisoned in the United States for drug trafficking.
Milei's justice minister was a lawyer for the main importer of ephedrine in Argentina.
Dollarization, deregulation of transportation and freedom for you to come and invest without saying where the funds come from, is synonymous with drug trafficking.
Paraguay and Bolivia pass their drugs across the border, through Argentina they ship them in one of their ports, or they cross them to Chile so that they leave the ports there.
from there: Oceania, Spain, Asia...

Re: America Will Be Argentina in 2025
Ok but who has the most members in the Senate and I really need a link to show me that everybody in the Senate voted for the pay raise and if you think about what good would it have done for Milei to veto the pay raise. They would have just over rode his vote. Yes? Or are you telling me that his veto would have stopped it.
With the printing in China are you sure your mint can handle it? On this I don't know tbh but in the long run when the new notes have been in circulation for a while I don't see why your mint can't handle it in the long run.
TBH I don't know what you mean by unclear rules that favor the investors.
Exportation has also grown by 9.8%
