Pittsburgh hosting the 2026 NFL Draft

Sorry if this has been posted before.

I personally love the city but despise the sports teams!! [emoji23]

Wonder if Baltimore has put in for this? Or if they will in the future? Would be good for the city.

Agreed I hate admitting I like the city. I really enjoy the restaurants/bars up on the hill or whatever it’s called that over looks the stadiums. I’ve never been to a Steelers game but the pirates stadium was pretty cool

It’s the overlook/the mount. I lived in that area for 6 months.

I completely agree. Pittsburgh is a wonderful city. The hills to the rivers are really something special. I was surprised though how small a city it is. They've been so big in the sports world that I expected something with a lot more size.

It's usually a team that has recently spent significant $$ on stadium upgrades.

Vegas was unreal - the bar has been set high

Sashi Brown mentioned the Ravens were interested in hosting sometime in the future. Pittsburgh will do great, it really is a beautiful city.

Agree with Pittsburgh doing a great job with it.

I think it's inevitable we will get it at some point too after the redevelopment of the Inner Harbor is done. I'm not overly concerned with parking, bump up the mass transit options for people, it will be a great time.

These are awesome for all the various cities in the NFL to host these.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

If Baltimore hosted the draft would you locals go? I probably wouldn't sounds like a pain. Maybe Day 3 if in the crowd thins out.

Re: Pittsburgh hosting the 2026 NFL Draft

Yeah Pittsburgh is an awesome city. Hardly any people at all when compared to larger cities but still has the amenities that cities have to offer. Some of the best views of any city in the country. Mount Washington has been talked about and any views from the north shore looking towards downtown (Pirates stadium view) are big hits.

Still though, they have an awkward as hell infrastructure when it comes to subways and highways. Some of the reasons that make it awesome (hills, nature, rivers) also cause pediments to growth and having solid infrastructure. They have no subway system from the airport/west of the city. No beltway to deal with mass amounts of traffic. Major highways that actually split through downtown. (No joke the UPMC building is the largest in Pittsburgh and you can almost spit on it from the highway).

Like I said above, awesome city outside of the sports teams (I don’t mind the Pirates because of friends and family being from Pittsburgh/I don’t really care for baseball/they have sucked my entire life), but it is going to be fun to see the infrastructure limitations they inherently have and how they are dealt with.

Was able to make it up there for the Ravens Steelers game this past year and they are doing shit right over there on the northshore by the stadiums. Casino, bars, restaurants, subway stations, football field, baseball field… All in about 300 yards. It’s a hell of a time.

But I am weary of where in the hell they are fitting 500k+ people over there. The area is being continually built up. (If anyone is familiar behind the casino going north they are building a massive area for entertainment and shopping, in between the stadiums entertainment and apartments are popping up… Point Park is always the first place to flood up there… Downtown isn’t overly massive…)

Boiling this down to say, kudos to their city planners for whatever they threw in front of the NFL’s planning committee because they have a ton of obstacles to overcome and they must have checked the boxes.

Would love to see the draft take place in Baltimore. Not only is it a massive boon for the economy of the city, but it just generally looks like a great time to be there and witness.
