You know what? Sign me up. I think Bateman grabs the number two spot and doesn't let go. Barring injury, 800 yards is his floor.

Re: And Another thing about Rashod Bateman Believers!

This offense (a Lamar led offense) doesn’t require volume from the “#2” and “#3” WRs to be top 10…and probably doesn’t need it to win a SB.

Lamar has a great “feel” for seeing the passing game but it doesn’t happen in a traditional read out the progression in a strict timing and rhythm manner. Therefore the “usual” targets volume for the 2 and 3 WRs doesn’t happen even if those WRs are open.

From what I’ve seen, it's been a matter mixed combinations of reasons…..well earned trust with Mark Andrews…who when healthy is one of the best TEs in the league and has his own tendency to option/adlib routes. Then there was the QB-WR off field friendship with Hollywood when Lamar made extra effort to get him the ball. Then there is Lamar’s own generational ability/desire to **create** a play on his own. An impatience with the mundane execution of script when his own vision and ability can create something else….sometimes the results are brilliant a rare 1 of 1 play….and sometimes it’s a bad throw, a missed read on an open target or a sack or int. But it’s usually a ton more good and great improvisational plays then bad.

Now, whether Bateman will have more volume is tough to say. Even barring injury Bateman’s results will be shared with Lamar and Monken.

The staff has made a point to mention that Bateman will have a bigger role. But that was obvious last year. My question is what are they gonna do to “feature” Bateman more? Monken/Harbs need to do something more than telling Lamar that he needs to get the ball to Bateman more because he’s open. History tells us that won’t work. Monken would need to change Bateman’s role in the offense. Specifically where Bateman’s routes are within the play progression.

JT QB school made a funny comment while breaking down a Lamar/Ravens game where he pointed out how rarely Lamar targets the backside WR in a play progression even if it’s Odell.

For Bateman to take a jump it’s gonna mean Lamar takes another step in his development as a passer where he starts targeting the backside WRs with rhythm and timing OR Monken moves Bateman’s routes to frontside of pass play progressions.

Personally, I’m always betting on Lamar to reach his full potential. Lamar can be the best QB in the NFL. Bar none. Yes, Lamar has the talent to be better than Mahoney. But, he ain’t there yet and getting to backside WRs is an area he needs to improve.

I do hope you guys are right, but with Zay, Andrews, Likely, and possibly Agholor cutting into his targets, that ["Something like 835 yards and 6 tds"] may be difficult to achieve... Bc

Here's what Odell + Likely + Agholor + Bateman did last year:

    Player Yards TDs
    Beckham 655 4
    Likely 411 5
    Agholor 381 4
    Bateman 367 1
    total 1814 14
    ÷ 3 604.7 4.7
    (Odell's numbers won't match official:
I'm including 90 yds and a TD for DPIs he drew.)

Odell is just gone, so his targets are there for the other three to pick up. That works out to about 605 yds each.

I expect the Ravens to steer more usage toward Bateman than Agholor – they've got Bate signed for three seasons and Aggy for just one – so that bumps Bate up a little and Agh down a little. Maybe Bate to about 700 and Agh to about 500?

That's without assuming any uptick from Bate knowing the offense better because of being present for offseason workouts this time – having better chemistry with Lamar thru OTAs & minicamp – being healthy from jump rather than being slowed down by lingering injury like last year – efforts by the Ravens to "establish" Bate.

I don't think it's reasonable to assume zero effect from those things. I don't want to go too far out on the limb of declaring anything is "safe" with Bateman; but something like 800 yards and 4 or 5 TDs should be very reachable.

Last year, Bateman and Beckham were essentially splitting time at X receiver. I’m not sure what the official snap counts were, but they were in a platoon most of the year. This year, I’m not sure when Bateman comes off the field. I’d expected he and Zay play the vast majority of the snaps. So I’m expecting him to get his highest target share so far, assuming he stays healthy.

I really don’t think Likely or Agholor are getting many targets when everyone is healthy.

I think a LOT of people are going to be surprised when Ricard is TE2 in all these 12 personnel packages.

All of what Jim said is missing one thing: Last year, Andrews and Likely weren’t on the field together very often. This year, they will be.

Whenever the Ravens get concerned about Ex's blood pressure.
To get his BP back down out of the red zone, they'll go with a lineup of:

Andrews + Likely + Zay + Tez + whichever RB is best at blitz pickup

Nah, RZ offense should be Henry. Ricard, Mitchell/Hill Andrews and Kolar.

Do you think Kolar is on the bubble?... Bc

Probably makes the roster but gets very few snaps. I don't expect Likely to be featured much unless Andrews gets hurt again, so Kolar is pretty much a practice squad guy or maybe one of the inactives when the team is mostly healthy.

I know people talk about Monken featuring his TEs in college, but weren't his WRs just bad? To the point that the TEs were the actual best pass catchers? There's no reason for me to believe he'll run primarily 2 TE sets when he rarely did last year. And with Bateman's extension, and drafting Tez, Likely will not get the chances many think he will, imo. Which completely removes Kolar from gameplans
