The top priority is winning.
Making winning a top priority is the coaching being fair to the 50 other guys on the team. Non-QB players matter.
It makes sense to invest five units of resources in improving a QB if the improvement results in eight units of resources.
But eventually that number dwindles and dwindles until putting in five gets you only five. Worse still, putting in five might result in a return of three or two. Yet, if "developing them as passers [is] the top priority" then rule requires more investing, more investing, and more investing of resources no matter the result. Squandering.
The juice must be worth the squeeze. How hard to squeeze is a question for the braintrust and the answer depends on the individual player. The juice being worth the squeeze is the better priority/rule/standard because it can be applied to players at every position.Last edited by Forgettable1; 03-28-2024 at 02:31 PM.
