Joining the military was what I was agreeing to. I think that an undocumented willing to go directly to military service should be able to “jump the line” and get fast tracked to citizenship.

This shouldn’t be an option after getting caught here illegally, but perhaps there should be a program or an office at the Mexican side of the border that allows this as an option for entry.

You are assuming that these people, many who are here for free shit, will stand and fight for a country they have no ties to, and not lay their gun down and high tail it outta here during a conflict? That's not a good idea IMO. We saw that in Afghanistan, when they weren't getting paid and they were citizens of Afghanistan. I'll pass.

They will and are getting paid what we have come to realize is generational wealth for many Mexicans, with expenses covered so they can send all the money home.

And whatever can’t be snuffed out in basic training can be exposed during service and the promise of citizenship yanked if they don’t complete the requisite service time in good faith.

I am assuming that EARNING one’s citizenship would place more value on receiving it.
