Re: Jets want to be permanent Black Friday host

To be fair, the Ravens were going to have another opportunity to be showcased on Thanksgiving night once again @ PIT in 2020. Albeit, granted, it happened to be scheduled away instead of the other two at home in 2011 vs. SF & 2013 vs. PIT, respectively.

However, Steve Saunders decided to essentially derail the entire season stemming from his infamous COVID debacle, which in turn caused the renowned postponement until the following Wednesday in what was one of the most unfair NFL match-ups I have ever witnessed, due to 20+ players being prohibited from competing in said contest & BAL had less than the required minimum amount of players dressed!

And that is before we even begin to bring up PIT players purposely sitting on & deliberately holding down Gus Edwards near the goal line following a carry amid the waning seconds of the first half, after an admittedly baffling run call by some moronic, idiotic, former OC who I shall now refuse to name!

Obviously, that poorly handled circumstance via the referees subsequently forced 'RG3' to rush a play & pass attempt to catch PIT off guard, rather than spiking the ball, as he did loft a well-placed lobbed ball right in & out of the hands of TE Luke Willson, who himself had been recently acquired. As the latter dropped the TD, time expired, which was ultimately a costly situational scenario when all was said & done.

Still, that game goes down in franchise history as an absolutely valiant effort via the "Deep Depth" of those able to dress & participate! That included Trace McSorley getting the opportunity to perform in a regular season return trip back to PA.

Well, that is, at least as opposed to some previous preseason action involving plenty of stellar, standout play on his part in Philly prior to the strange situation that lead to the suspension of the aforementioned game, due to inclement weather, which additionally kept the Ravens' silly Summer winning streak alive in the process.

Unfortunately, Trace was not inserted soon enough — y'all may recall how 'Harbs' stubbornly stuck with the hobbled 'RG3' for far too long that evening — thus the comeback fell short, but at least he threw that short pass to Marquise, which resulted in a 70-yard TD to make it much more threatening to PIT down the stretch!
Damn! I forgot about that original schedule! Everyone talks about Denver starting a WR as QB but the Ravens game was arguably worse, with saving graces as you point out above.

Two weeks earlier was the weather modification game where the Patriots ordered a warm weather monsoon in cold November to defeat the Ravens. They repeated the same trick to try and defeat Brady the next year. I still think they tried again last year but it failed that time and they only got a minor rain instead of the desired monsoon style pouring rain.

Re: Jets want to be permanent Black Friday host

Having thought a bit about this the Jets shouldn't be hosting a short week game every season. The Lions and Cowboys shouldn't either. The NFL should tell them they can play every Thanksgiving but the deal is they have to alternate home and away to make it even. The Jets can play every black Friday with the same deal.

Being at home on a short week is the biggest schedule advantage in the NFL and no team should be guaranteed one every year.
