Re: What to do with Patrick Ricard?
Once a play breaks down like this it’s a scramble drill. Receivers are suppose to break route and find an open spot to give the QB a window.
This is nothing like what your boy “bal bomb” described. In this case lamar should have threw it out of bounds.
But this is another great example of Greg Roman’s idiocy. Why would Pat ricard be running that route instead of a WR? Or at least a pass catching TE.

<sigh> Where is the facepalm emoticon when you need it?
No. It is not. And frankly, it hasn't been for a few decades. Don't believe me? Why don't we ask an expert. Like maybe, I dunno, John F*cking Riggins?
"John Riggins was the type of player kids loved imitating. He was a bruising runner with a mean streak and big shoulder pads who plowed through defenders and dragged them along for the ride — all the way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
But that was back in a long-lost era when fullbacks were ball-carrying bulls and integral parts of team’s game plans. Today, being a fullback just does not have that attractiveness.
“A fullback now is kind of a tight end and a lineman,” said Riggins, who played for the Jets and Washington from 1971 to 1985. “They’ve got to be able to pass block and drive block — it’s almost like a pulling guard. That really is as good as it gets for a fullback in contemporary N.F.L. football, with the exceptional draw play, of course.”
"Some of the game’s greatest runners were primarily fullbacks: Riggins, Jim Brown, Franco Harris, Ernie Nevers, Bronko Nagurski, Marion Motley and Larry Csonka — all Hall of Famers. They carried the ball, caught it and blew open holes for running backs.
Now, fullbacks are mainly blockers who catch occasional passes and rarely carry the ball."
