Gonna make a controversial statement that pre civil rights American was not the bastion of freedom for everyone lol

Emmett Till was lynched in 1955

What happened in the 60s that changed things, made you disagree??
LOL! ZING <- sound of fishing line being wound out as the bait is taken.

The culture of the US wasn't perfect in the 60s, but the ideas of freedom and capitalism did just what I said it did, which you did not challenge. It lifted more people out of poverty, allowed the most individual freedom, etc. And despite the racism and severe headwinds, black folks in America were and are on average much wealthier than most other places on earth, if not all others.

The culture had warts, but it produced incredible wealth that was more spread out among the people than any history, black folks included. I challenge you to find a culture that built a middle class the USA did. I challenge you to find one that allowed people in poverty to grow to have incredible wealth like the USA did. Including making many oppressed black folks into millionaires from poverty.

Perfect? No. Best? Not even close.
