    Greg Roman to Stanford?

The Athletic thinks it's possible that Greg Roman will be on the list to replace David Shaw at Stanford. In fact he's the first person they list and discuss

Greg Roman, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator

Roman only spent two seasons with the Cardinal but was a big part of Harbaugh elevating that program into a power. The 50-year-old from New Jersey went with Harbaugh to the NFL, where they turned the San Francisco 49ers around and made it to the Super Bowl. The idea of Roman, with perhaps Vic Fangio coming back too as his defensive coordinator, might sound really good to old Stanford folks. Roman knows what it took and takes to get Stanford going, but does he want to be a college coach again?

It makes a lot of sense. Roman has been OC for 4 years. He's not getting a NFL head coach job. Stanford is a big time college program. A lot of NFL head coaches have through there including Bill Walsh, Dennis Green and Jim Harbaugh. It would be a great move for his career. Harbaugh was more than happy to help Mattison move on to Michigan when that opportunity came up. It would be the same for Roman. This is a real possibility

Agreed, it sounds like a match tailor made for Greg Roman.

    Let's just not jinx it

Remember back to the 2012 season when Harbaugh switched OCs during the season. That move helped produce a Super Bowl victory. Can lightning strike twice? I sure hope so... Bc

Not completely different. Chris Peterson is on both. He's probably going to be on every teams list of guys to talk to

That would be a perfect match.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.
