I don't think so. He said all Summer that he was ready for a change. He had other job opportunities in the past but wanted to stay with the Patriots. He took this job because he was ready to go. I can see a bunch of teams recruiting McDaniels to come in as OC. I don't think he's going back to the Patriots because he won't have to.

In fact the other team I could see heavily recruit McDaniels would be the Steelers. That's another well established group with a head coach who doesn't come from an offensive background. Both the Ravens and Steelers have Patriots like qualities without being the Patriots.

You aren't going to be able to get an existing OC for a lateral move. Mike Kafka for example is the OC of the Giants. This isn't a head coach. Teams will block lateral moves unless they want to fire the guy anyway

Wouldn’t say no, but I bet Kliff gets some big college offers if Arizona splits.

If Harbaugh goes - what happens to Mike Mac? This defense is pretty darn good. I’d hate to disturb that.

Maybe Mike Mac is the HC in waiting…

I wouldn't be looking for a guy who is transformational (ie, Don Coryell). I have always liked a strong running game and an efficient passing game.

If there is a team whose offense I like it's Buffalo. it's actually kind of dumb to shop for coaches off a team, because team success is based on the players there, more than the coaching philosophy. And the Ravens don't have the same players as the Bills. Nonetheless, the Bills run the ball well and are better throwing.

The guy I was thinking of is on the Bills staff as the second most senior offensive coach. And he is from Baltimore (kinda). It's Mike Shula.

People are going to hate it and pick out certain past failures. But I can pick out his job in Carolina in '15 when they went 15-1 (Shula was OC of the year) and Newton flourished with 35 passing and 10 rushing TDs. I like Shula's pedigree under Sabin, Rivera, Dungy (where he was OC for those good Bucs teams), Shumar, and McDermott.

Okay, I know people want some 35 year old with no blemishes (ie., track record) and not a 57 year old OC. But that is who came to mind.
    Valid argument Shas.

If Shula can bring some of that K-Gun offense here, that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

Id like to make sure Lamar is going to be here for more than a season before I go hiring a coch personally for him.

    It's a really interesting thought.

They had a succession plan in place for Ozzie 5 years ahead of time. Wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to continuity the heck out of Head Coach also

Is the defense good because of Mike Mac or because they’re loaded with talent? I don’t think replacing him would be difficult. He’s given up 4 double digit 4th qtr leads.

    That's a paradigm shifting thought.

He's super young and theoretically could take the role for 20 years like Harbaugh. Biscotti likes the stability model like the Steelers. Harbaugh is getting older...

    Damn!
