    Maryland Basketball

    Just thought I'd get a thread going on the first year without Turgeon. Watching the Louiville game and I really see a difference in how they're playing. Willard looking like an immediate improvement and already has them ranked #22.

    Let's see how they fare against Illinois, UCLA & some of the other ranked teams.

    Yes, starting tonight, three of their next four opponents are nationally ranked* (Illinois, Tennessee, UCLA). All three games are at home.

    * FWIW (too early to really know if the rankings are legit)

    So what would Turgeon's record be at this point if he was still around?

    More importantly, what are the "Turgeonites" going to do with their black suits, red ties & grey hair dye????????????

    The Terps look like a really different team under Willard, there's a.......sharpness about them, a confidence. Maryland just looked like the better team. This early in the season it sure looks promising. This team can do two things really well........play can fast and they play defense. I was impressed.

    I have watched some of the games. Totally different team under Willard. Looking like an under-rated team but that shouldn't last long.
    It's great having some exciting games to watch. Go TERPS!!!!

    Men ranked at high as #10 in new rankings. Women disappointing drop to 20 lost to Nebraska after that big win vs. ND.

    Conservative projection (minimum expectation):

    1-1 in final two regular season games;
    1-1 in conference tournament;
    1-1 in NCAA tournament.

    Results: 23-12 (16-1 at home, 3-8 on road, 4-3 on neutral), ranked 24th in final AP poll.

    Best-case scenario (extremely optimistic but still arguably realistic):

    2-0 in final two regular season games;
    3-0 in conference tournament;
    3-1 in NCAA tournament.

    Results: 28-10 (16-1 at home, 4-7 on road, 8-2 on neutral), ranked 8th in final AP poll.

    Re: Maryland Basketball

    It’s FINALLY payback time for what happened to the Terps when they were physically abused by Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers in the 2015 NCAA’s. Huggins deliberately set up a pick-and-roll screen that knocked Melo Trimble out of the game with a concussion. Without their best player, the Terps couldn’t handle the Mountaineers’ press resulting in 23 turnovers. Turgeon didn’t have the balls to retaliate on the court - or in the parking lot.

    Willard is well aware of Huggins’ team’s physicality. Let’s hope SOMEONE in College Park informs Willard just how badly many Terps fans want to see Huggins get his comeuppance.

    CCx

    Waited eight years for sweet revenge. It finally happened. Willard’s first season at Maryland was an unqualified success.
