I understand the issues with all that, but pissing on a sport like that and just because of that is equally stupid

FIFA takes the corruption and venality to another level, perhaps because it brings in nationalism, international politics, and diverse cultures where behavior like bribery is not only acceptable, but expected. IMHO, the Olympics , while far from pure, aren’t as corrupt was so much of the power is fragment among the ruling bodies for different sports

Yes, all you said is true, but coruption is a problem for the society we live in and piggyback riding it to a sport is just not right. If it happens, is a bad thing, no matter what the level of it is.
It was a discussion on the biggest event of a sport and dropping a social bomb in it was not needed.

Qatar is a bold prediction (for understandable reasons.) But I think Senegal takes that spot. I'd flip Denmark and France (assuming you are listing them 1-2.) I like your Canada pick-- I agree Croatia gets edged out.

I like Serbia over Switzerland in G. But my big upset in the group stage is Japan knocking out Germany (with Spain winning group E.)

Some of their best players are older now. Rakitic is no longer in the team. Modric is pushing 40.

I'll just say, let's not act like the NFL isn't set up in heavy gambling corruption.
