Re: OT: 2022 Maryland Football
I wish I still had passion for NCAA football, but anyway
Maryland's 4-1 back to back seasons for the first time since 2013-2014, and this time they get this schedule in front of them
vs Purdue
@ Indiana
vs Northwestern
They should be 7-1 heading into their road game at Wisconsin, which is about as winnable as a road game at Wisconsin is going to get.
Their goal now is to not have a letdown against three inferior teams.

Re: OT: 2022 Maryland Football
I swear the Big 10 is making it pretty obvious they don't want Maryland in the mix. Another game lost thanks to the refs who are worse than that Boger idiot who screws the Ravens over all the time.
Purdue player jumps offsides to block our XP and they don't call it. Then after we come back down 8 with seconds to go, they call back our 2 pt. conversion on another bogus call.

Re: OT: 2022 Maryland Football
yeah that was brutal. They overcame that and scored on the 2pt only to have it flagged...

Re: OT: 2022 Maryland Football
Yeah that was absolute bullshit. How do you not see a guy jump offsides on an extra point? It's not like you have to keep a sharp eye on anything else on a play like that. The guy looked to have taken 2 steps over the line of scrimmage by the time the ball was snapped! They didn't see that, but somehow they saw our lineman illegally downfield on our 2 pt try? Utter bullshit!

Re: OT: 2022 Maryland Football
From a coaching standpoint, do not put your loss on the officiating. It’s just another excuse that’s self-defeating. Yes, they do miss calls. They aren’t infallible. But it’s a very bad habit that’s disabling to your need to improve.
The Terps players (who should be 6-0) are talented but also handicapped with a lack of both maturity and discipline. They continue to beat themselves. They’ll get better and the recruiting should improve. But, right now, a Big 10 team like Purdue has the smarter players and is better coached. Nevertheless, the Terps have already demonstrated in 2022 that they are competitive against the upper echelon of the conference - Ohio State notwithstanding.

Re: OT: 2022 Maryland Football
Refs would not have made that call against Ohio State in such a crucial situation. They didn't make the offside call against Purdue on the blocked point after attempt. It's been 3 straight games where crucial calls were made against the Terps. Having said that, a senior offensive line should not be undisciplined.

Re: OT: 2022 Maryland Football
I hear you and I agree. But even in the absence of an offsides penalty, a Terps special teams player still failed to block the rusher on the extra point attempt. You have to find a way to command the respect of the referee. The first step is NOT to blame your loss on him. (Most likely, Locksley did not do that publicly. What’s important here is that he doesn’t do that in front of his players. Because his players cannot shirk their own individual responsibilities for the loss.)
