But you do have to weigh risk vs. reward. 4th quarter preseason is mostly guys not making the team trying to get on tape.

this is a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. Harbaugh def been siding on the side of lower risk, but only so much can be done. I see both sides. Hope the recovery is 100% and we move on.

What was your source for the snap count? Mine came from here:

" Rookie Travis Jones tallied a pressure and three other winning reps before exiting with a knee injury. He is on track to lead the defensive line in pass-rushing grade on his 16 snaps pending review..."

Zrebiec had him for 27 snaps. I'm guessing it was 16 PASS attempts (11 runs)

The issue with him playing is that they are sitting so many starters. At some point you have to play someone.

You're nto going to play your IDL 100% snaps, so what are they supposed to do?

Before next week they have to cut down even more and if they still want to rest starters the rookies and bottom of the roster guys are going to have to play a ton. Someone has to be on the field lol

    Ok, that would make sense.

I would still argue that a rookie playing 40% of the snaps in his 2nd NFL pre-season game is perfectly reasonable - you just cannot wrap them in bubble wrap and expect them to be ready to go week #1. But we are never going to be able to define exactly how much live game practice someone in his position would need, so you'll never be able to quantify the risk/benefit trade-off.

The Ravens currently have only 3 players behind Travis Jones on the depth chart. Aaron Crawford, Isiah Mack and Rashyad Nichols

Mack and him were playing the 1T essentially.

You're not playing Mack 100% snaps. I really don't get what people expect. Jones just had to play.

That's where I'm at. You are seeing teams play starters for most of a game like the Dolphins recently did with Mike Gesecki and the Broncos did with Albert O. Both coaches said those players needed the reps. A player can get hurt the 1st series in the first game just as easily as preseason. We saw that with Brady years ago. It's football. It happens.

Of course it is, but Harbaugh has not overall been good at player management. In this instance, everyone but him had certainly seen enough from Jones. Guy is legit. He’s also a DL which means contact on every play.

Why haven't we gotten an injury update yet? Did he get an mri or anything?

Ok this among some other similar posts has changed my mind from my initial position on this. You are right and I agree. Don’t have an issue with him being in there knowing what I now know. It was just bad luck. Hope he isn’t out long
