I lived in Germany for a while, and drivers are not regularly going over 100 mph. In fact, there were signs that said "130 genug", which meant 130 kmh is enough - a strong suggestion. (130 kmh is about 80 mph). I have gone about 220 kmh on the Autobahn (135 mph) but it was wide open road with little traffic. Also scary af when you hit a dip or swerve just a little bit. I felt like I had no control over the car, so I backed it down. Younger and crazier me wanted to see how fast I could go. But 126 mph in morning rush hour is ridiculously stupid.

Germany also engineers their roads differently in the US to try and prevent crashes.
