Long past due for major college football to break away from the NCAA. There needs to be a massive realignment and reorganization. And a commissioner.

It was inevitable when Oklahoma and Texas declared they were moving to the SEC. These networks pay millions for the TV packages and the schools get the benefit. Big 12 and Pac 12 are in trouble.

It's not so good for sports outside football, though...

I have had a hard time summoning any kind of hatred for other Big10 programs the way I had for Duke, Carolina, Virginia, etc. Even worse now. No rivalries; just kids in different laundry.

It is crazy. My son is at Wisconsin and I asked him how the fans feel about teams like Rutgers and Maryland. He said the focus is always on Minnesota first. That's the big one no matter how one sided it usually is. They do care about Michigan and Ohio State but there is no focus at all on the east coast. I imagine it will be the same thing for LA and the west

What I heard back then, and I really believed, was that it was all about $$$$

Terps brought in the Baltimore/Washington TV market (28th largest and 9th largest moving it to 6th) and Rutgers (consider it the University of New Jersey) brought in the NYC market. Biggest market,

USC and UCLA pretty much capture the 2nd biggest market LA.

Northwestern (and Headquarters in Chicago) gets the 3rd biggest.

Penn State sure helps with the 4th (Philly)

I can only assume the B1G won't stop there and will go after other big research type schools that could bring TV revenue. Stanford and Notre Dame I'd think would be a top priority. Arizona (or ASU?). Oregon. Maybe UNC in the east. Virginia maybe. Would Pitt or WVA create interest? Don't know. But if the league was divided into three, eight-team divisions, East, Central, West it might make for better rivalries and more sane travel. So maybe,

East: Maryland, Rutgers, PSU, OSU, UVA, UNC, Pitt and WVA.
West: USC, UCLA, Stanford, UoA, OR, Minn, Neb, Iowa.
Central: MI, MSU, ND, IN, Pur, IL, NW, WI

How long until Clemson, Miami and FSU go to the SEC?
    "That's what."

Big Ten would be pretty valuable with Oregon
