Mostly…. I think this is BY FAR the best offense for him.

It’s hand in glove, perfect fit for both player and scheme.

He can hit open receivers in the middle of the field after their breaks with the best of them. He made a “bit” of progress outside the numbers and regressed BADLY in his footwork. He still can’t or won’t throw to a spot before the break. He can’t or won’t throw to hot reads. His touch on deep balls is a thing of Beauty. He was designed for the “bully ball run and gun, ground and pound and launch it deep0 offense that Roman runs. I see someone that would likely flop in a WCO. Being that he did well in an E-P system in college that “might” work in the pros but it’s a massive gamble when we already have a sure thing we have seen with our own eyes…

If he bucks up, drops the Willie Beamon shit, listens to coaching, works on his fundamentals and lives in the film room, why couldn’t he be even a bit better?

What you are saying is basically we need to do is pretend 2019 didn’t happen, start over and ALSO do my list.

Forget about that 14-2 season. Teams have adjusted since then and we haven’t adjusted back. That offense is cooked!

    Says who?

We were still 3rd in the league in rushing with corpses running the ball and Boyle and Stanley on the sidelines….

Who was the leading rusher even though he missed 6 games? This offense is cooked unless Lamar is Jesus Christ in cleats.

Won’t be so much that way when we get Stanley, Boyle Gus and Dobbins back. Injuries suck.

Lamar was the leading rusher the year before when everybody was healthy lol Superman had over 1000 yards but Roman is a run game savant.

When we had 114% as many rush yards as the second place team? A team that had a 2k yard rusher?

Yeah, that is the definition of savant.

I don’t see the problem with Lamar being the leading rusher, simply only when he mused 6 games.

I think Gus Dobbins and LJ8 could easily all top 1k yards in 2022.

There are multiple options on every play but, on too many passing plays this season, every option was downfield, the other eligible receivers were either blocking or selling a run fake. There was no possibility of going deep to shallow because there was no shallow, no matter how well the QB read the defense. It showed up when we were blitzed early in the season but it was never treated like a problem until Miami.

The underneath routes were not there for no reason but sometimes they were meant to draw the defense's eyes or draw defenders away from scramble lanes. The Ravens spent years asking Lamar to pass it deep or run the ball, with the checkdown de-emphasized and quite often non-existent.

To say that Roman had a developed short passing game that Lamar was just failing to see isn't entirely true. We saw in Miami that Roman had so few effective short passes in his playbook that he had to go back to the pass to the WR on the sideline at the LoS again and again and again.

That lack of emphasis has meant that Lamar's game is underdeveloped in that aspect. He's not good at it, but that's on him and Roman both. Roman can't suddenly start incorporating more check downs and get a pass for those struggles he helped to create.
You are talking like you have intimate knowledge of the Ravens offense. How do you know that the underneath routes are there to draw the defense? How do you know that they are telling Lamar to ignore the underneath stuff and force the ball down field or take off running. If this is happening the entire coaching staff should be let go right now. That is not how offenses are constructed. Offenses (running and passing games) are constructed to give you multiple options. They are constructed to put the defense in conflict and forbthebQB to read said conflict. Roman's offense is no different. I'm sure Roman is not telling Lamar to force the ball to MAndrews in triple coverage. I'm also sure that on that 2pt conversion against GB Roman diagramed the play so the QB would have 2 options. That's not a play that the Ravens have never run before. I've seen Lamar hit Hollywood in the back of the endzone on that play before. I get you don't like Roman and criticism of him is fair. What's not fair is to say that he only draws plays with one option because if you watch the game you would see that there are multiple options on any given play.

Siriani is just another NFL coach, he's no run game specialist, but Philadelphia finished the season in the playoffs as the NFL's top rushing team, because that's the advantage that a QB fast enough to be part of the designed run game can give you.

Siriani started the season trying to run a drop back passing game with Hurts. That didn't work at all and it was only about halfway through the season, when he was favorite to be the first coach fired, that Siriani went to the QB run game and Philly started winning.

Lamar is a much better runner, passer and decision maker than Hurts, so it seems like any coach could turn a Lamar offense into the number 1 rushing team without much trouble, so why not get a coach who can build a much more sophisticated passing game around Lamar too, knowing we'd always have that fallback?

If a coach as bad as Siriani, ( who tried to make the limited Hurts a drop back passer in the first place, and who goes run heavy without using his best RB, Miles Sanders, nearly enough ) can do it, anyone can. But what any coach we hire could do, that Roman can't, is build a viable NFL passing game, so that we wouldn't have to run Lamar that much.

Lamar can move around the pocket and throw off platform to anywhere on the field about 20x better than Hurts, so we'd have a real chance to get the passing game working, which would remove the need to run him so much. You said yourself he'd be average as an NFL passer - in average NFL passing game with some QB runs, that would be pretty deadly.
1st of all Siriana had a healthy Hurts all season and Roman didn't have Lamar for a qtr of the season. Secondly when Roman had Lamar he had the Ravens with the best record in the AFC and had Lamar on pace to throw for over 4000 yards and run for another 1500 and this was without the services of his top 3 RBs.

Part of his struggles is he didn't have the run game. Teams began to ignore the run game and attacked Lamar. With JK and Gus do you think Miami goes to the zero look over 40 times? You think teams would simply sit 2 safetys deep and not worry about the run game?

Hevwas only the leading rusher because Gus and JK were on the sideline. He ran out of necessity. With a good RB he doesn't have to run nearly as much.
