There was a good amount of stuff going around at the time that Hue had a toxic personality and a penchant for stabbing folks in the back. I think he was also smashing Anita Marks back then and there was speculation he was leaking family business. Or was that Willis? I can't remember now...14 years goes fast.

IIRC think the leaker/informant was rumored to be Wilbert Montgomery who was the RB coach at the time. At least that is where Mike Preston was supposedly getting his information. It's been so long I don't remember where or from who I read that though.

Now that you say that, I do recall it. I don't think Preston named him as a source, but it was widely speculated.

WB was Harbaugh's original RB coach (there when players like Ray Rice, Ricky Williams, and Willis McGahee toted the rock)

After Cam/Caldwell left and Kubiak came in, Thomas Hammock replaced him (later going to become HC NIU; I just saw the re-upped him through 2026). Mike Pettine brought WB to Cleveland where he finished his career.

Yeah Wilbert was Preston's source but I think Hue was leaking to the press too and trying to sew discontent behind the scenes in BMore.

I believe the story at the time that led to WB's firing was something along the lines of RR bitching about how the OLine was doing a poor job of blocking for him and it got back to them and caused some words in the locker room. I miss the old board with the VIP section because we would at least be able to go back and look up some of this stuff from back then.

Also want to add that since 2000 there have only been 4 Super Bowls won without current or future HOF QBs and the Ravens have won half of them. Just shows how hard it is to win without a HOFer at the position yet the Ravens have given the fans a ton of success despite that.
