    Extra 'Credit': 2008-2012

I may be wrong, but I just felt like this would be a good retrospective discussion to have. There has been talk about who deserves what amount of credit, for the success we had between 2008-2012. We have Ray, Ed, and the mainstays on the defense. We have Harbaugh. We have Flacco, and we have Ozzie (Brought in Boldin, drafted Flacco, Pitta, Rice). You don't necessarily need to provide numbers, but how would you divvy up credit for that success?

Part of the argument for Harbaugh is that the success coincided with his arrival and that the consistency, year by year, really started with him. Whereas, before, we were more of an every other year type of team.
Part of the argument for Flacco is that they'd gone seven years without winning a playoff game, even with the defenses we had, before he arrived, and he was our best player during the postseason run, despite not really being given the best to work with (2012 was the best and that wasn't like top 5 in the league or anything). Plus, the way he eventually performed on the road (At Kansas City, At New England, At Denver).
Part of the argument for the veterans on the defense is that we haven't matched that success (Playoffs definitely, though 2019 was our best regular season in history) since the mass exodus, and that they likely made more than one DC look better than he actually was (Mattison and Pees). Also, that 2007 was really an injury-filled season and the talent was already on this squad except at QB.
Part of the argument for Ozzie, well, Ozzie is self explanatory. Of the 10 most influential players during that entire stint, the only one who wasn't even drafted by Ozzie was Boldin).

    What say you?

A promotional thread to bring back the FWO eh? I see right through this little ruse. By page 2, we'll be talking about the mile high miracle, the fact that Boldin should have been retained, the lack of consistency at OC, Lamars playoff numbers, and something about Marlon Brown.

After he fired Billick it was a logical conclusion that Rex Ryan would get consideration, and did in fact interview for the job. The players on the defense were all extremely loyal to Rex, and that’s where all the best players on the team were at that time. After not getting the job, Rex was given an assistant HC title, and came back to work under John Harbaugh.

If I remember correctly, Cam Cameron was already in place just not officially to be the OC. Harbaugh walked into that dynamic which couldn’t have been easy, with his success riding on a rookie QB out of Delaware in a QB starved city, while basically having his coordinators assigned to him.

Harbaugh got the job, and for whatever he lacked in knowledge, he excelled at in team politics culminating in an AFC Championship game appearance his first season, and subsequent playoff appearances until reaching and winning the SB. Whatever people think of Harbaugh now, back then they probably don’t have as much success without him.

It is time to bring back Joe, however. I prefer him to backup Lamar instead of Huntley.

I maintain that this is to be an open-minded discussion, free of ulterior motives. I’m genuinely curious.

We need to find your taste in wrestlers. We’ve done NFL QBs, but we haven’t done wrestlers.
