Thread: Isaiah Mack

    Isaiah Mack

Maybe not worth his own thread, but this guy was signed late in the season off the Steelers and I thought he looked decent in limited action. Ravens just gave him a futures contract. Could be someone who nails down a job as we renew the Dline. Any thoughts?

He looked good in the games he played. Looks like a bit of explosiveness, perhaps a bit undersized - but stout. Every time I saw his number, he was doing something positive. Gave me a bit of a Kelly Gregg vibe.

Ravens Sign Ninth Player to Reserve/Future Deal :

" On Thursday, Baltimore inked: NT Isaiah Mack
Reserve/Future deals do not count against the team's salary cap until the new league year begins but keeps the players in Baltimore.
Mack played in two games this season and was a bright spot in the Ravens' loss in Cincinnati, playing 33% of the defensive snaps and notching a sack. Undrafted out of Chattanooga in 2019, he has also spent time with the Titans, Patriots, Broncos and Steelers. He spent last offseason in Denver. "

I think we actually signed him off the Titans. He has bounced around for three years (mostly with the Titans and Pats) on and off practice squads. So I don't have any hope that he will be an impact player.

But he absolutely could nail down a job depending on if we keep any of the Monstars/Jelly Ellis, and depending on who we draft. Ravens prefer a lot of dline rotation. Outside of Madebuike and Washington, there's not a lot of certainty going in to next year. We definitely will need the depth, and he'll probably be competing with guys like Aaron Crawford and Xavier Kelly for a spot.

BTW, here's a little profile of him going into last season from the Broncos. https://www.milehighreport.com/2021/...dt-isaiah-mack Of course, he didn't end up making it out of training camp with them.

He looked quite good but, because he's already bounced around a lot, he seems like the kind of player the Ravens' might try to keep on the practice squad until injuries hit again next season.

Thanks for the background. Agree he's likely depth, but it seems he didn't get a chance to play as a starter yet and he has some potential, so fingers crossed he can become an average starter for dirt cheap, which would be a win in my book

he actually looks good with limited action, he was in the back field a couple times, and i think he had 1 sack. ravens tend to do well with short DTs, he's like 6'1, he's a keeper for depth , for sure.

He had the 1 sack late against CIN, and another early nullified by penalty (side note: I could not find the 12th man for CIN that led to offsetting penalties, that sequence was very strange). He also bench-pressed #77 right out of the game on a drive late in Q4 (BWash got the sack, but Mack got interior pressure). 31 snaps total (6 vs CLE, 25 at CIN). I'll say I'm very happy he's back, I think he could provide depth in a position where the Ravens currently have none.

He seems like a good guy to have in camp to compete. Every team needs those guys who have high motors and desire even if they do not necessarily have the ideal physical or athletic prowess. At the end of the day his ceiling is rotational depth but that has good value when you get it cheap and comes with some degree of knowing what the NFL life and job description of a backup is.
