Re: Dear Greg Roman
I think Harbaugh and Roman want to win time of possession and milk the clock, but with this year's offense is that really what's best for this offense? The running game is all replacement backs and the offensive line is banged up. Why not change up the tempo at times and try to catch the opposing defense flat footed.
Lamar can be quite the weapon in a hurry up/no huddle offense having the defense wonder is Lamar going to pass it or bust open a long run.

Re: Dear Greg Roman
It's definitely Harbaugh's style of play. No doubt about that. We've saw it throughout Flacco's time and now Lamar. They want to run the ball, win TOP, play defense. Unfortunately they can't run the ball OR play defense this year, so trying to do things how they've done it isn't going to work. And I credit Roman he's certainly opened it up to some degree, but it needs to go even further.

Re: Dear Greg Roman
I agree! In the past when our receiving corps was underperforming (to say the least), then running the ball to "win time of possession and milk the clock" was a logical choice. However, now, as x_ke pointed out, our WR/TE group far out-shine any running game (except for LJ they're either ready for Social Security or unproven) that we currently have... Bc

Re: Dear Greg Roman
For once the Ravens strength is the passing game so why not open up the offense. Running game on it's own (besides Lamar) isn't going to be able to establish itself without some help. Instead of watching Bell get negative yardage rushing the ball why not throw some short passes to Duvernay and Proche.
If the passing game is prolific enough it should eventually open up running lanes for the Ravens less than stellar running backs.

Re: Dear Greg Roman
Exactly this. I don’t have as big of a problem with Roman as others do, but with a little more creativity they don’t have to play into directly what the opposing defense is waiting for them to do. Change it up some, forcing a square peg into a round hole isn’t working no matter how much you want it to.

Re: Dear Greg Roman
Agree again - while I'm glad Batemen is back and productive, likely taking targets from Proche, I'm disappointed that we don't get the football into Duvernay's hands more often. He's dynamic with the ball as seen by his kick returns, but last year he only had 20 targets (just over 1 per game); 2021 = 19 targets (less than 3 per game) aren't nearly enough.

Re: Dear Greg Roman
Dear Greg Roman,
Stop starting the football game with your slowed RB who (Stevie Wonder) could even see how slow he is running the ball. If the entire world sees it then WTF are you are Harbaugh thinking?
Start utilizing Lamars speed on designed QB roll outs and get him hitting guys on the move. This can wear down the defense and maybe open up some rushing lanes spreading the defense out.
Start the fastest guys on the roster. Maybe put Duvernay in at RB or some Jet sweeps to catch short passes out of the backfield, quick screens to get him the ball.
Start feeding the RB consistent touches. No one is going to get into a rhythm you pulling the RB every other damn play. Start the game with one guy, if it doesn't work then switch it up.
Start letting Lamar do more play action passes. He seems to hit some big throws when he gets opportunity.
Dear Wink,
Stop blitzing so damn much with safeties and DBS.
Disguise your looks more and keep more in coverage when you play a QB and WR group capable of torching you for 500 yards.
When your highest paid DB is getting beat like a drum give him some help.

Re: Dear Greg Roman
Beyond the end arounds, I think Duvernay would be excellent at motioning into the backfield and becoming an outside the tackles run option. He is a one cut and go type runner with tons of speed. Good things always happen when he has the ball in his hands. He has that compact muscular body frame to take some hits also. Ty Montgomery, Cordarelle Patterson, Percy Harvin and others are/were WRs occasionally running out of the backfield, effectively.
With our dearth of RB speed and no cap space, why not try DD in the backfield occasionally. Added bonus is he could become a check down option that Lamar trusts. Lamar needs to start looking at his checkdown option quicker, and stop holding the ball so long waiting for receivers to get open. With DD wide open 3-5yds down the field, he should be more inclined to look that way and deliver the pass.Last edited by ravensnhokies; 10-26-2021 at 03:38 PM.
