Carson Wentz had 402 also. Bengals definitely not the only team that scorched this pass defense.

Yup. Wink's gameplan worked for a qtr and then the players couldn't tackle. But this is the problem with the defense, once the scheme isn't effective we have no counter punch. That tells me the players we have are just getting beat.

The real problem for this defense lies on the def line. The defensive line is old and outdated group of run stuffers. Blitzes leave our secondary in open space to have to make plays on superstars.

Big, space eating defensive line players aren't outdated - they're back in fashion as teams commit more players to the back end.

It's the small fast penetrating D linemen that are in danger of being outdated as teams go for smaller, more mobile linebackers and as box safeties go out of fashion.

The Chargers would love to have some old fashioned run stuffers rather than getting run all over every week.

The pass defense is statistically a weakness right now.

Agreed. They weren't stopping anything or touching Burrow, and he was completing 8-12 yard passes at will along with the big plays.

BTW, I know some of the posters have a hard time believing this, but like the OP says the Bengals may actually have a good team.

Mahomes also, he wasn't 400, but he was 77% 343 3TD and average 11.1 the highest by far of any team he's played this year. He also wasn't sacked which is the only time this year that's happened to him.

Herbert is the only "good" QB they've played well against and that can be considered nothing but an anomaly right now.

The Bengals look like the cream of the AFC to me so far. Buffalo is solid, too, but Cincy seems more complete at this point. A Cincy-Buff AFCCG wouldn't be surprising at all.
