Tackle Brandon Knight did not report

In this story, Ravens say that OT Brandon Knight, who they claimed earlier this week, did not report to the team:

This seems odd. Why wouldn't he want to report to the Ravens where he would be on an offense at least as good as the Cowboys?

Maybe he doesn't want to play anymore? Otherwise doesn't make sense to me...

    Wow that is strange.

so what does that do to his availability? Wouldnt they have the rights to trade him?

They own his rights so his two options are to report or not play. It cost them nothing to keep his rights. It does not say much good about his attitude as a player right now. Many far worst places to end up than the number one team. You could be going to Detroit or Jax.

Coach Harbaugh just got asked about this at media day a minute ago. He said it "seems like a personal decision" by Knight and wasn't able to shed much light on it. Harbs seemed pretty confused by it, too.

That's the only non-conspiratorial thing that makes sense to me other than they cut him with injury and were trying to do some quiet settlement with him. From there it devolves into they were trying to sneak him onto the PS and he thought he accrued enough time to choose where he wanted to go. Still the Ravens offense seems desirable for O-linemen to play on.

Thanks for posting that! I guess everyone is baffled by it.

Yeah. My gut is Knight was taken aback and maybe felt a bit butthurt about having to pick up sticks and leave for another team. But, y'know, that's life as a fringe NFL player. He either accepts it or he finds a new career.

This is frustrating. I think Knight has some real value. The question is, does he intend to report at all?

This article says that Knight refused to report to the Ravens.

"The team [Ravens] announced on Wednesday that Knight has refused to report to the team. Head coach John Harbaugh said at a Wednesday press conference that Knight did not report for personal reasons. They have signed veteran offensive lineman James Carpenter instead."

Well they should play hard ball with his dumb ass and make him not eligible to play for anyone else.

Not sure what the Ravens could do about it. Yes, they own his rights, but that assumes that they keep him on their 53 man roster and fine him for not reporting. That doesn't sound like the Ravens to try to force a player who doesn't want to play for them to do so.
