2021 Orioles played a major role in Yankees’ Wildcard loss.

By getting their first series win in Yankee Stadium in two years (last month), the Orioles successfully played ‘spoiler’. We went 8-11 against them this year including 3-3 in September. As a result, the Red Sox and Yankees tied in the final standings. So the Bronx Bombers had to play the wildcard game in Fenway Park where they lost Tuesday night 6-2.

Perhaps most see that as small consolation, but I see it as a positive sign for the future - when we’re competitive in the AL East again.

Too bad they also went 1-18 vs Tampa Bay, and 5-14 vs Toronto and 6-13 vs Boston (after winning the first 3 games at Fenway).

I guess 8-11 vs the Yankees is the smallest of consolations.
