Re: The Greatest Safety of All Time
Reed bc of everything else he did on special teams.

Re: The Greatest Safety of All Time
Representative of their era, I'll have to go with Lott. But the posters are correct - start a new team today between both players in their rookie year, and it's definitely Reed.
The one thing I'm sure of is that as of today, Lott is starting at SS and Reed is starting at FS for the all time team.

Re: The Greatest Safety of All Time
This is about as tough a comparison as it gets. Both Reed and Lott are legendary players. Ed Reed is my all time favorite Ravens and I'm still struggling with this one. Honestly I could make a case for either. Ed Reed did things on the football field that didn't seem possible. Ronnie Lott was a leader on the level of Ray Lewis. He cut his damn finger to stay in a game! I just can't choose.

My All-NFL safety tandems
"SS or LS" // "FS or RS"
1) Ronnie Lott // Ed Reed
2) Emlen Tunnell // Larry Wilson
3) Ken Houston // Willie Wood
4) Brian Dawkins // Paul Krause
5) Troy Polamalu //Johnny Robisnon
Would you switch anybody around? Did I leave anyone off?

Re: The Greatest Safety of All Time
Here's one... which Steeler Strong Safety would you take... Troy Polamalu, or Donnie Shell?
There is an ulterior motive to this question.
