Re: OT: new ads killing my desktop
I have a Mac and I don't experience those issues. Can you please email me a screen shot if it happens again? TL@russellstreetreport.com. Thank you.

Re: OT: new ads killing my desktop
Use "uBlock origin". It's imperative that you use origin and not regular "uBlock".
AdBlock Plus sold out years ago and now allows ads through from those that are willing to pay to bypass adblock.
Once Tony has the issue sorted out you can whitelist the site to support it.Last edited by DeltaRaven; 06-10-2021 at 09:39 AM.

Re: OT: new ads killing my desktop
I value each and every one of you. I've had disagreements with some of you that have been discussed offline. Not once have those discussions ended badly. You all, in essence, are my customers and throughout my career I've subscribed to the notion that the customer is always right. You work towards solutions.
I've looked throughout the history of my inbox here and there isn't a single piece of correspondence between us. I've looked throughout my current gmail account that dates back to 2008 and I see nothing from your email address (I looked it up through the admin). This conversation of "ripping" you never happened. That's just not my style, good day or bad.
But all that said, you're still here and you must find value in the exchanges in these forums. I'm still here. I want to improve the experience for our site visitors. I've seen some suggestions which I've made note of, and we are looking into the possibility (even prior to this thread) of giving our visitors the option of an ad free site. If successful, I expect that to be an option offered around the start of the 2021 regular season.
So, if there are any other ideas or if you care to share your thoughts again with me, I'm here to listen.Follow me on Twitter @RSRLombardi

Re: OT: new ads killing my desktop
I had made some comment you didn’t like about you being too hard on Harbs in the comments section when you had that running. You saw that at the same time I was offering a suggestion about the website and you must have thought I has some gall to be requesting changes (which you said were very expensive to make). The thing was, I assume that if I was having the user interface issue others were too and that the suggestion would be valuable to you - so I really was taking time to help the site because I value the site. I did apologize for being too harsh in my comment and said I would mitigate it. But you shouldn’t have taken my comments on the public side personally. It was one fan’s reaction. I was really surprised you didn’t compartmentalize and consider the possibility that the shithead who was dissing you in the comment side could actually be trying to help in a private e-mail.

Re: OT: new ads killing my desktop
I access the forum on a Mac laptop only running Chrome.
The issue I was seeing was when there was a pop-up, full-page takeover video ad.
The ad would play and when it finished playing the window would remain open on the final frame, with no ability to close that window.
I assumed the issue was that the bottom of the ad was falling below the bottom edge of the browser window, and so the CLOSE button could not be seen or clicked on no matter how I try to drag the browser window bigger. That was just an assumption on why these ads "freeze" the page. However, If I just refreshed the page, it would reload without the ad window there anymore. So it wasn't completely insurmountable. So, just need to adjust the pop-up window size, I believe.
I have not seen one of these full-page video ads in a couple day. I am seeing static pop-ups, which have a small ad in the center of a semi-transparent full-page background. With these ads the CLOSE option is clearly visible and so it doesn't "freeze up" the site.
If I see another full page video takeover with this issue I will screengrab it."That's what."
